Hungry Days And The Healthy Brand Showcase

I am glad today is Wednesday.

Not because we are halfway through a tough week or that I am excited for the weekend to arrive, not even because I am heading into the city soon for a Healthy Brand Showcase.

I am glad today is Wednesday because yesterday was my hungry day and that is now over.

I know we all get hungry days but did you know that my hungry days always seem to fall on a Tuesday?

I told you I am a creature of habit. Even my appetite monster follows routine.

I noticed the Tuesday trend a year or so ago and decided that it must somehow correlate to my workout routine and the timing of my weekend long run.

I am a bottomless pit on hungry days where I find myself always looking for the next meal or snack.

I have learned to accept and honor hungry days. If you are truly hungry, shouldn’t you eat?

I was chatting with a friend yesterday and told her that there is nothing worse than being hungry. Being hungry makes you mean and cranky.

If you are trying to maintain a skinny for you weight/size, yet always hungry, is it really worth it?

We need to honor our appetites and realize that food is fuel for our bodies.

Being hungry isn’t a sin. It is a sign you need some fuel to function.

When my hungry monster strikes, I just fill up on additional bowls of oatmeal, apples and peanut butter, extra salad, yogurt etc. Basically, whatever I normally eat, I just add extra helpings until I feel satisfied.

That would be one of the extra apples with peanut butter I snacked on yesterday. A pink lady apple to be exact.

I haven’t given up my love of the Granny Smith but I just can’t resist buying a variety of other sweet and crispy apples this time of year.

You know you have reached apple season when your grocery stores have the large bins loaded with apples at a great price.

While I am pretty confident that my appetite should return to normal today, I may need to pack some extra emergency snacks to have with me in the car. The last thing I need (or anyone that encounters me today needs) is for me to get hungry.

As I mentioned earlier, I am going into the city this morning to attend the Healthy Brand Showcase.

This event will feature new health, wellness, fitness and beauty products so I am super excited to check it out and report back to you what I discover.

I am going to try to squeeze in a 5 or 6 mile run in the gorgeous, crisp air before I go so I better get myself moving!

Have a great day!

  1. I have hungry days more after a long run weekend. I have learned to honor them like you and give my body the food it wants but I have to be very careful or it could turn into a binge! I have to really ask myself WHY i’m eating. If it’s because of emotions, I have to leave the house. If it’s bc i’m hungry, I eat!

  2. I feel like I’m always hungry now since lifting more and spending more time working out in general. Although, I’m not as hungry after the gym. It’s usually alllllll effing day long up until that point. So annoying when I don’t bring enough food to work. Grrr! I just bought some organic pink lady apples last night. Can’t wait to have one today 🙂

  3. Hungry days are some of my favorite days!! I embrace them because I just eat eat eat! And I don’t feel guilty because like you said – it always has to do with the timing of my long run! Have fun at your health expo today and good luck with your run! 🙂

  4. I use to have hungry days all the time especially when training for marathons. Haven’t really had one in a while since I’ve had to stop running, and I kind of miss them! They make me feel like my metabolism is charged up and really working!
