Another Mother’s Day breakfast tradition in the books!
You may have already seen a sneak peek of our breakfast at Maureen’s Kitchen yesterday on Instagram.
My son chose Maureen’s Kitchen for the third year in a row. We have learned that you must get there when they open to avoid the lines. So at 7:00 am, we were there! I honestly wasn’t going to wake my son so early this year but he got up and ready on his own.
I went with the baked oatmeal this year and I must say, it was the best bowl of baked oatmeal I think I have ever had.
One year the waitress at Maureen’s Kitchen suggested fresh blueberries on the side to go with the baked oatmeal so I ordered it that way again.
I would love to know how they make their baked oatmeal although I would never come close to replicating it. It is served with a side of warmed milk. It is truly out of this world!
My son even let me take a picture of his breakfast.
His order included eggs, bacon, sausage and his choice of pancakes. He chose Oreo pancakes.

I made a special trip to Panera one day to work and have lunch. I don’t get there as often as I once did but I still like to work from there when I can.
When you give me a gift card to The Cheesecake Factory, I will use it immediately even if I was just there a few days prior.
I had a great Red Mango parfait on Saturday which I enjoyed while walking the mall. In case you didn’t know the toppings in my parfait, it’s always original yogurt with strawberries, blueberries, pumpkin flax granola and dark chocolate chips.
We finally tried the new Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza that opened near my house.
There are a bazillion great pizza places near me but Anthony’s is a little bit different since it’s coal-fired cooked and you can’t order by the slice as it’s served by the pie.
I ordered the house salad to start. Salads are also served family style – this is the small.
We chose two pizzas but honestly, if we all could have agreed on toppings, one large pie would have been enough. I chose a small basic pizza with mushrooms and we also ordered a large meatball and ricotta pie.
So I liked Anthony’s but I prefer our traditional New York pizzas by the slice. Would I go again? Sure. I think it’s a little bit pricey for what it is but on occasion, it’s a good place. The bar area is nice too with good-sized televisions for watching hockey games so that’s a plus in my book.
Major Flashback Post: A few years ago we had dinner at Salvatore’s which is the best brick oven pizza in my opinion here on Long Island. I need to get back there soon!

Im sure Ive told you this before but my favorite NY pizza is Grimaldis! Thats impressive that your son was up and ready for breakfast at 7am on a Sunday. Looks like that food made it worth it though!
I always want to go to grimaldis’ when I see it in Garden City! And yes, the food was worth it but we were both tired all morning!
So cute you and your son have a mother’s day brunch tradition. We used to make my mom breakfast in bed and I’m always so sad that she lives in another state now on holidays.
My favorite pizza is home made grilled pizza. I don’t eat out much. I don’t know if I have a favorite topping, I like them all and change it up overtime. Mushrooms, caramelized onions and goat cheese is a current one I did. Pizza is mostly served by the pie around me.
I like some of the places that serve by the pie but by the slice is still my favorite!
Your son is so sweet to get out of bed that early for Mother’s Day! I’m glad you had such a good one. I have never tried baked oatmeal and I’m not even sure I’ve ever seen it on a menu around here. Crazy eh?
Not that crazy actually – most places here do not have baked oatmeal, only a select few! It’s so delicious though.
That pizza actually looks a click burnt on the crust. I’d still eat it though. Of course I would.
I think it’s sweet your son woke up early just for you. Now that’s love.

I know what you mean by agreeing on toppings. It’s sometimes hard for us to just get one because we all like different toppings. However thankfully everybody in my family is pretty adventurous when it comes to toppings, so we usually get one or two. 😀
And Oreo pancakes actually sound really good. I should try Oreos in pancakes someday soon.

We had tacos catered for Mother’s Day because both of our families came over (25ish people) and the hubs made homemade carrot cake and it is my absolute favorite!
My fav pizza toppings are chicken, pineapple, and jalapenos with little to no cheese. Yup, I’m a weirdo 🙂
