UBS Arena Food + Salads + Different Breakfast

Can we discuss that last week was my first Islanders home game, not only at the new UBS Arena, but my first home game overall since before the pandemic?

I try not to think about how I missed the playoff games last season (including the one on my birthday in June – please don’t remind me) because I wasn’t fully vaccinated in time.

Anyway, it felt nice to do familiarly normal things again, even though the new arena was a new experience.

With all of the food choices at the new UBS arena, it’s only fitting that I chose pizza. I have to tell you, this pizza was EXCELLENT. It was so good, and I arrived at the game so hungry, that I went back for another slice.

The picture of the pizza doesn’t do it justice. The crust was seriously so terrific.

My son had gone already to a game at the new arena. The new arena opened late November.

I forget what he said he tried the first time he went but when he went with me last week, he chose to have a cheesesteak and told me to take a picture of them on the display.

I also took a picture of the below, which is not the newly famous Shaq sandwich, but it is some sort of other sandwich available from Blue Line Deli on an Islanders themed orange and blue bagel.

I’m sure I’ll be back at a game again soon during which time I will try a big cookie from Milk Bar. And maybe the Chinese food from Mogu. So many good food choices at UBS Arena!

Moving on….

I had a salad from Sweet Green while in the city last week. I’m not even sure what was in the salad, I created my own and had her add a whole bunch of ingredients.

We went to my aunt for Shabbat dinner but I didn’t take any pictures. However, my aunt, as usual, sent me home with tons of food (including a restock to my matzoh ball soup!) and a lot of salad ingredients.

I made this salad for lunch using what she gave me. Very colorful salad if you ask me!

I picked up this salad from Chopt on my way home from running errands. I’m happy to report (if you haven’t noticed) that I’m fully back in my salad routine after being sick the week of Thanksgiving.

In unpictured breakfast news, last week I mentioned that I wanted to maybe not eat oatmeal every day and maybe possibly switch it up with English muffins and peanut butter. While I have still been eating oatmeal fairly regularly, I did have a toasted whole wheat English muffin yesterday with peanut butter (and jelly) and felt oddly good/weird about it.

It’s very hard when you are a complete creature of habit, especially with breakfast, to decide to eat something different. But I wanted to, so I did, and I may do it again today.

Just wanted to say I have been reading your blog since 2013 (when I was 17!) and honestly feel like we would be best friends. I can totally relate to being a creature of habit, especially when it comes to breakfast (#oatmealeveryday) So go you for switching it up- wild child! Great to hear things are starting to return to normal for you in NYC- things are slowly getting back to normal here in Italy as well Love to you Bella Xo

So good to hear from you and to know you have been reading for so long! You made my day 🙂 I hope all is well with you in Italy and that things can really start to be “normal” again for all of us. (I had an English muffin today for breakfast — I”m totally wild!)
