Well, I thought I would have run more last week than I did. But I didn’t.
I don’t even have much of a reason as to why I didn’t run very much other than — I don’t think I felt like it?
Ideally, my weekday runs would hover around five miles each. I just couldn’t mentally get myself to that distance last week and I just cannot force myself. This is where I’m at right now, which I also know can change in an instant. And it’s okay.
In the meantime, I really enjoy walking and all of the other workouts I do from Melissa Wood Health. I don’t feel as though my workout routine is lacking from lowered mileage – if anything, I notice that I have more energy in my legs during the day when normally I would feel that “I ran this morning” feeling.
Monday – 3 Mile Run + 30 Min Walk + 7 Min Arms (1 lb weights)
I had to fight my way through the first mile of this run, you have no idea! I can’t even explain what the issue was but it took a lot of mental communication with myself to remind my body and mind that I can most certainly run a few miles. Heck, most of the distances I run now are what my WARM-UPS were for my old runner self. After the first mile, I did find more of a groove but geez. Three miles was quite a goal for today. I wasn’t even tired or anything! It just wasn’t my day. Some days you just have gotta do it so you remember for next time that you can do it.
Tuesday – 30 Min Fiery Pilates Flow (using resistance band) + 30 Min Walk
This was a challenging pilates flow, in the best way possible. I really enjoyed it!
Wednesday – 3 Miles Run + 1 Mile Walk + 10 Min Power Abs
Three-mile runs feel right this week.
Thursday – 30 Min Walk + 23 Min Power Arms/Abs/A** (using ball + 1 lb weights) + 10 Min Booty
This particular power flow always leaves my abs so sore! I think it has to do with using the ball behind the back for certain ab exercises. It’s hard but I’m getting better at it!

Friday – 3 Mile Run/30 Min Walk
Another three-mile run!
Saturday – 5 Mile Walk
I didn’t feel like running really today so I went for a walk instead. My neighbor, who is a bit of a fitness buff, was out for a walk too and as we passed each other he told me that he “felt like his joints just needed a break from the gym today.” This kinda goes back to my conversation earlier this week about walking and how it totally counts as exercise. My neighbor walks often and includes walking as his cardio in his workout routine. The only high-impact cardio he does on occasion (not even weekly from what I understand) are sprints.
Sunday – 49 Min Warrior Sculpt
It was raining today so it was a great opportunity for Warrior Sculpt (from Lifetime’s digital workout options). I had never done this particular Warrior Sculpt before – it was hard but not too hard so I was able to keep up!
