Another week in workouts in the books for this summer! It really is crazy how the time is flying. Like we say about parenthood, the days are long but the years are short. Sometimes it truly does feel that way about everything.
Anyway! I’ve detailed my workouts below so let’s get to it.
Monday – 3 Mile Run/30 Min Walk
I ran the boardwalk yesterday but felt like a super easy run this morning so that’s what I did for 3 miles before switching to a walk.
Tuesday – 6 Miles
I don’t always run 3 days in a row but sometimes it happens. I was in the mood so I went with it!
My workout looked like this:
- Mile 1 – Warm-up
- Mile 2 – .25 hard/.25 easy/.25 hard/.25 easy
- Mile 3 – .50 hard/.25 easy/.25 hard
- Mile 4 – .25 easy/.75 hard
- Mile 5 – .25 easy/.25 hard/.25 easy/.25 hard
- Mile 6 – .25 easy/.75 hard
Wednesday – 30 Min Warrior Sculpt
Love me some Warrior Sculpt.
Thursday – 6 Miles
- 2-mile warm-up
- 3 miles effort
- 1 mile 25 easy/.25 hard/.25 easy/.25 hard
Friday – 45 Min Xtreme
Saturday – 8 Miles
Another hot and sunny yet beautiful morning at the beach. I went into the run with the same approach as usual although I tried to start with an even easier effort. Still clocked in at 8:45 as my first mile. And as usual, the first 3 miles were progression style and then I got tired from the heat. Only this time, I felt as though I didn’t have as much to continue to give effort-wise. I felt like running but just knew I didn’t have it in me to push through the heat with effort.
During this run, I was thinking about how experienced runners know you don’t need to stop, you just need to regulate your pace to find where you are comfortable. Sometimes I speak to new runners who think they can’t keep going, so they stop. And while sometimes it is the case that you know you should stop, a lot of the time, you just need to slow down to find a comfortable zone, and then you could likely continue for endless miles at that effort.
As soon as I slowed to an easy effort and pace at mile 5, I settled in super comfortable for another 3 miles. It was really enjoyable.
I took in the views big time today, seeing several outdoor workouts classes on the beach. While I’ve always seen yoga on the beach in the morning, this summer I definitely see more workout classes happening since the gyms here are still closed.
Sunday – Yoga/ Walk
And before I go, the Brooks Ghost 13 is out! I’m disappointed in the colors though. It’s like this: I never focus on colors for my running shoes as it’s all about fit BUT I was hoping since switching from Adidas that maybe I would get lucky with great colors in the Brooks. Not this time around I guess. I’ll pick one I suppose but eh, really not impressed with the color choices.
