Well I’m officially screwed up on the days of the week this week. I know, I know. We have all been screwed up since March but for real this week, with Monday off from work combined with what feels like an endless blur of doing my own nails, I just do not know what day it is.
I also have not taken very many photos of food over the last few days. What was I doing instead of taking food photos? Probably attempting to polish my toes.
Have I mentioned I am still doing my own nails? Of course, I have. I’ve now said it three times in this post. Of course, I realize that I am not the only one doing their own nails and yes, I’m fully aware that manicures and pedicures are frivolous non-essentials (part of a phase we aren’t close to entering) if we want to dive deep into the real problems of the world. But this is my blog which makes me CEO of the site so I can complain about whatever is bothering me.
I don’t even have gel polished nails that need real professional attention but I’m complaining anyway. You see, being able to get my nails done weekly whenever I feel like it just represents the freedoms for the little things that I miss doing. I recall saying to my mother, two weeks into polishing my own nails, that maybe I would become really good at this! Maybe I will learn to like it so much that I won’t go back to the nail salon! She knew better. There was silence followed by don’t be ridiculous.
At least I have a cute pouch to hold all of my nail polishing essentials. This part of the situation does make me happy.
I hope in your area of the world, you are now able to get your nails done if that’s what you like to do.
Moving on to the food part of today’s conversation.
I’ve had a lot of salads that look like this one below. An organic salad blend with chickpeas, feta cheese, and avocado.
We picked up dinner from The Cheesecake Factory and gave the Thai lettuce wraps a try by take out. Always a favorite appetizer through the years, the lettuce wraps were just as good at home as in the restaurant.
I could live on the whole wheat margarita pizza from Mario’s with a salad and actually, it seems that I do.
Look who made her return to Trader Joe’s!! I hadn’t been to Trader Joe’s since March but it was time to give the whole wait-in-line-wear-a-mask a try. I went in the evening and only waited two minutes outside before they let me in. Shelves were stocked, too. I’m very happy to have the following items back in my kitchen:
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips (best chocolate chips on the planet)
- Cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread
- Japanese sweet potatoes
- Green Goddess salad dressing
One would think that I arrived with a list in hand but of course, I did not. In fairness to me, I went to Trader Joe’s on a complete whim. My friend and I had the idea that we were just going to go, and that’s what we did. Little thinking involved. It was an episode of Supermarket Sweep at its finest. Just a lot of throwing into the cart.
My son loves those Power Crunch bars so I restocked him on those among other random canned and jarred items. Do we even eat the Cowboy Caviar or baked beans? Well, at least now we have the option.
How about a few of my Trader Joe’s Favorites posts?
