Weekly Workout Recap (not in a running mood)

Last week was one of the weeks when my interest in running is basically missing. This lack of interest in running comes out of nowhere but when I know that I truly do not feel like running, I don’t. Or, if I’m in one of my non-running moods but kinda think that maybe 30 minutes would be okay, I do just that, knowing the real running mood will return, just as quickly as it left.

In fairness, I did run both Saturday and Sunday last weekend, which started my week off a slightly different foot than usual as I don’t normally want to run three days in a row. Whatever — it doesn’t really matter. I’m fine with not being in the mood to run because I would rather go with how I feel than force myself to do something I don’t feel like doing.

Also! I’m thinking maybe I want a new pair of running shoes. I say want rather than need because I don’t feel that any of the three pairs I am currently rotating are burned out. Rather, I’m just in the mood for something different (and don’t want to risk getting my Brooks Launch Old Glory any dirtier than I already have). I will keep you posted!

Monday – 30 Min Walk (outside)/10 Min Pure Barre

Well, I overslept today. I am not one to sleep later than planned! I’m that person who has never used an alarm clock in her life because she doesn’t oversleep! Is there anything worse than realizing you are running late when you wake up?! Ugh. In order to not feel like a complete rushed mess, I tried to go through my usual early morning routine before driving my son to school which meant taking the time to not feel like I was rushing out the door. I slacked on making the bed and getting dressed for a workout before leaving to take him to school which did cut into my workout window once I got home, but that’s okay. It was more important for me not to rush than to rush and feel annoyed.

My plan had been a longer Pure Barre workout but I knew the fresh air would help me to calm down from the rushed morning feeling.

When I returned from my walk, I chose my favorite 10 minutes Pure Barre (seat & abs) and added in free weights to hold, to bump up the challenge.

Tuesday – 30 Min Walk (outside)/20 Min Pure Barre

Wednesday – 30 Min Treadmill Workout

I didn’t feel much like running today but it was too cold for me to walk outdoors, and walking on the treadmill wasn’t appealing either.

Considering I haven’t run since the weekend, I figured I could certainly manage a 30 minute run on the treadmill. And why not right? I make my treadmill workouts interesting and engaging.

I did a great job running within these 30 minutes but definitely felt like stopping once I hit the half-hour mark. Just not in a major running mood this week I guess!

Usual 10-minute warm-up

10 minutes alternating 1 min hard/1 min easy

10 minutes alternating 2 min hard/1 min easy

Thursday – 45 Min Pure Barre

It was too cold for me to be outside today so a Pure Barre morning was perfect.

Friday – 3 Mile Run/20 Min Walk (outside)

It was above freezing so I figured I could handle running outdoors. 30 minutes running followed by a walk before heading home.

Saturday – 3.5 Mile Walk (outside)

I didn’t feel like running so I went for a walk.

Sunday – 3 Mile Run/2 Mile Walk (outside)/10 Min Pure Barre

I wanted to run today, but not for long. About 30 minutes of running and I was good– then I switched to walking. Once I was home, I chose two, 5 minute Pure Barre workouts (thighs and seat).
