Excellent Indoor Week In Workouts (treadmill running + pure barre)

Last week was an excellent indoor week in workouts for me!

We are talking FOUR quality treadmill runs combined with three strong Pure Barre workouts. I really couldn’t ask for a better, more solid week in workouts, especially this time of year! I shocked myself when I wanted to run two days in a row on the treadmill. I don’t like to run easy miles on the treadmill so the fact that I put in the quality effort for each workout really made me so happy.

Also, making me happy right now? Wearing my J.Crew Gemstone Sweater combined with the cute little gloves the Islanders gave out at Saturday’s afternoon game. Totally feeling festive at the moment — Happy Hanukkah!

Monday – 35 Mile Treadmill Workout

I did not want to get up today after last night’s Bat Mitzvah party BUT I had to drive my son to school so I really had no choice. Headed to the treadmill on my way back (because 32 degrees is honestly too cold for me to be happy running outdoors).

I made up my workout as I went along:

10 min warm-up + 3 miles of 2 min hard/1 min easy until I hit 35 minutes + 5 min cooldown.

Tuesday – 45 Min Pure Barre

I’m loving the weight series that was added to Pure Barre on Demand in the last little while. Each workout features weights as part of the workouts throughout the routine, rather than just during arms or core.

Wednesday – 5 Miles (treadmill)

Strong treadmill workout this morning!

I don’t have a formal listing of what I did for 5 miles but I finished at 41:42. With my usual 10-minute warm-up routine, I then fluctuated the speed at various intervals (no higher than 8.5 and not lower than 6.3) until I reached 5 miles.

Thursday – 45 Min Pure Barre

Friday – 45 Min Treadmill Workout

Today I decided to play with my incline. I always set the treadmill to 1.0 throughout my treadmill runs, bumping up to 2.0 during my warm-ups.

For today’s treadmill incline running workout, I fluctuated the incline up between 3.0 – 5.0 (after warm-up) with speed hovering around 7.0, going to 7.5 – 7.6 when I would drop the incline back to 1.0.

Saturday – 6 Miles (treadmill)

I shocked myself when I woke up wanting to run on the treadmill today! Normally, I find that I run on the treadmill more like every other day in order to keep my interest and energy strong. But I was in the mood to run, so I did.

Again I was a little later than normal and again I was the only one in the gym. So, either people in my neighborhood are up earlier than me on weekends or arrive later on. Or, they skip their weekend workouts.


I don’t have a formal workout to share – 6 miles right at the 50-minute mark.

Sunday – 30 Min Pure Barre/3 Mile Walk Outside

It was above freezing and sunny without wind so I was able to get outside for a walk.

The weather this week should actually be warm enough for me to take my runs back outdoors. However, I was very happy on the treadmill last week which leaves me feeling fine and comfortable should the rest of the winter keep me indoors more often than outside.
