Before getting to my heat wave week in workouts, I wanted to address the Nordstrom Anniversary sale which you have likely seen plastered everywhere. I recall saying this last year during this sale — I see very little of interest to me on sale, therefore, I can’t really recommend much to you.
Unless you need a new bra like this one from Natori, or men’s jeans. The 7’s that are on the sale for men are good ones.
I find more during the Nordstrom half-yearly sales than the anniversary sales and I never want to share links that aren’t actually for items I would buy for myself. Therefore, as of right now, I have nothing for you in regards to the Nordstrom sale. Should something pop up of interest to me, I will certainly let you know.
As for my workouts last week:
The heat wave has been real fun here in New York. Even before the heat wave technically started, it was HOT. My three runs of the week all took place on the treadmill, and I think I will be inside today too.
Also worth noting is that this week was my 5 YEAR PURE BARRE ANNIVERSARY!
Here’s my first ever Pure Barre recap post.
And here is a 2014 flashback photo from the Pure Barre studio when I would sneak a picture before the start of class.
You already know that I LOVE Pure Barre. I am so happy that I found it when I did. Pure Barre takes care of my strength training in such a way that I actually enjoy it. I am stronger, have better balance, created nice lean muscle, and I think, Pure Barre most likely plays a role in why I haven’t encountered a running injury.

My 3 Year Pure Barre Anniversary
Monday – 30 Min Treadmill/Cooldown Walk Outside
I wanted to run indoors on the treadmill today after a slow for me week last week outdoors.
I enjoyed this treadmill run because it was nice to get some speed in without feeling the heat.
Here’s what I did:
10 min warm up (5 min easy/ 5 min 30 sec hard/30 sec easy)
20 min ranging between 7.5 – 8.1
Rather than cooldown to make it 4 miles, I stopped the treadmill at 30 minutes and headed outside for a walk. I think I walked 25 minutes or so.
Tuesday – 45 Min Walk/30 Min Pure Barre
Wednesday – One Hour Walk
I thought I would run today on the treadmill but really didn’t feel like it.Plus, I was sore from yesterday’s Pure Barre workout.
So I went for a walk.
Thursday – 50 Min Pure Barre
A heat wave and humidity plus getting my hair freshly highlighted yesterday gave me the perfect reason to stay completely indoors with a Pure Barre workout.
Friday – 4 Miles Treadmill/Cooldown walk outside
I made up this workout as I went along. Aimed for 30 minutes and then chose to continue to 4 miles for a total of just about exactly 33:30. Here’s what I did:
5 min easy/ 5 min 30 sec hard/30 sec easy
10 min of 30 sec hard/30 sec easy
13 or so minutes of 1 min hard/1 min easy
I’ve never really done the 30 seconds hard/30 seconds easy for so long — normally I use it as part of a warm-up. For today though, it’s what I felt like doing. I liked it because it let me get my speed up there without wanting to die too soon. It wasn’t until I was up at 8.5 and 8.6 that I really felt it.
This was an energizing workout.
Saturday – 30 Min Treadmill Workout/Cooldown walk outside
The heat wave is defnitely in full effect today! I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to run on the treadmill but once I started to go for an early morning walk, I realized I was in the mood for a quick treadmill run.
I didn’t follow anything formal that I can report but I ranged my incline between 1.0 – 4.0 while ranging my speed as well, no higher than speed of 8.0 for this workout.
I run slower at higher inclines (like speed of 6.5 – 6.6), and then drop my incline to 1.0 when wanting to run faster.
Finished a few seconds over 30 minutes for a total of 3.5 miles. I then went for a walk outside after this treadmill run which somehow didn’t feel too hot even though it was already sunny, over 80 degrees, and oppressive humidity so early in the morning.
Sunday – 50 Min Pure Barre
