Weekly Workout Recap (7.8.19 – 7.15.19)

Quick details today on my workouts from last week because I really don’t have much to say other than I ran 3 days rather than my usual 4 days of running.

Some weeks I like to run more than walk and some weeks, I prefer a walk over a run. When the weather is warm and inviting, I really can’t resist a nice walk! It’s amazing I went so many years not enjoying a walk. I always preferred to run rather than ever take a walk but that really did change for me.

Of course, sometimes I do want to run instead go for a walk but I’m finding there’s a definite balance between the two which is great. Walking does have great benefits which I think runners tend to ignore and I also find it nice to get outside for a walk on my Pure Barre days in the summer. I used to run on Pure Barre days but I rarely combine the two anymore — it’s too much and not necessary.

It is worth mentioning that I’m still loving my new pair of Brooks Launch. I find these running shoes to be light yet cushioned and springy. I don’t even miss wearing my Boosts when I am running in these sneakers!

Monday – Active Rest Day

Active rest day is the best description for today. It was raining, I didn’t want to run on the treadmill, didn’t feel like Pure Barre, and sat on the phone in the house longer than usual in the morning. I skipped my usual workout time slot, figuring once the sun came out later in the day that I would go for a walk.

I went for a walk in the afternoon and then another walk with a friend a little later on — not sure how far or anything like that – probably a few miles total between the two walks.

Tuesday – 5 Miles

I realize that it’s hot and humid which means my paces will appear slower even with an effort that feels faster but I do think my new phone is tracking longer. There’s a sharp difference in my paces since getting my new phone and the mile marks do seem a little off from what I’m used to while running.

I know my route fairly well so we will see. Maybe I need to reinstall the Runkeeper app. Or, maybe I’m just slow for me at the moment.

Wednesday – 30 Min Pure Barre/Morning Walk

I forget how long my walk was today! Not more than an hour.

Thursday – 40 Min Pure Barre/ Morning Walk

I think my walk was around 45 minutes.

Friday – 5 Miles

It’s really possible that I am running slower than I recall for July running because I am running later in the morning than I used to — I do not get up as early as I did in the past which means the hot sun is higher in the sky while I am out there. Something to think about.

Saturday – 7 Miles

It’s either Runkeeper, the weather, or I am having a slow for me week.

Sunday – 45 Min Pure Barre

Heatwave on the way this week! I think I will be running on the treadmill. 🙂
