Week In Workouts (feeling better!)

This week in workouts started out with me still dealing with a cold but ended on a much better note! I started feeling better on Wednesday so the second half of my week featured good runs and strong Pure Barre workout.

You should know (in case you don’t already know) that I really don’t like running in the cold when the temperature goes below freezing BUT I will tolerate the 20’s if the sun is shining and there’s no wind. I HATE the wind. This week I did run outdoors in the 20’s and it was okay. Much colder than this and I will inside on the treadmill. I weighed my options this week and realized that since it was sunny enough with a calm wind, I had to run outside because soon enough, there may be ice and/or now and those conditions are a definitely signal for the treadmill.

It’s not that I dislike the treadmill. No, I am okay with it! It’s more that sometimes you do want the fresh air and need to figure out which option is the best option depending upon the weather and your mood.

I realize I haven’t shared new workouts in quite some time but I do have a whole bunch of treadmill workouts if you are looking for indoor inspiration. Here’s a link to get you started. 🙂

Anyway! My workouts!

Monday – 10 min elliptical/Walk

I thought the elliptical sounded like a nice idea until 10 minutes felt like forever and I didn’t have my usual energy for increasing the resistance levels. At 10 minute mark I decided to go outside for a walk since it was relatively warm (in the 50’s).

Tuesday – 30 Min Pure Barre

I combined three, 10 minute Pure Barre workouts (arms, thighs, seat). Mentally I wasn’t in the mood for a full Pure Barre routine so breaking it up and combining the shorter workouts did the trick. I also wasn’t ready for cardio today as my congestion had been worse overnight. Pure Barre does not affect it.

Wednesday – 30 Min Running

I had a much better night and felt well enough to run! I kept it to 30 minutes but felt basically normal and the congestion did not get worse! Maybe I can try for 5 miles tomorrow.

30 min run

Thursday – 5 Miles

It was crazy cold again (like 25 degrees) but no wind so I felt great. While I did bring tissues with me, I think my nose was running more because it’s cold outside than because of the cold I had. Feeling basically normal again!

5 miles

Friday – 45 Min Pure Barre

Pure Barre workouts are seriously full body. That’s all I have to say.

Saturday – 7 Miles

An hour outside! Not sure why I slowed at mile 6 –  I think I was shuffling the songs I was listening to with Pandora.

7 miles

Sunday – Pure Barre

I’m always so grateful for Pure Barre On Demand, especially in the winter when you don’t want to leave the house! Here’s my review of Pure Barre On Demand if you are considering it.

I can’t imagine you like the wind when you are running but if you do, I need to know!

What is the coldest temperature you can handle for running?

I agree, temps in the 20s when its sunny and there is no wind is not so bad. Its really the wind that makes winter running tough. Yesterday I opted for the treadmill because it was 20 degrees and i just dont have good running clothes right now for that kind of weather. Today it was closer to 30 and I needed some fresh air so I headed outside.
