Weekly Workout Recap: Running & Pure Barre

I’m here! While I can’t figure out what my posting schedule will be going forward (or at least for right now), I am still keeping up with my workout recaps. Maybe I will find my regular blog posting groove again soon, and maybe I won’t. I really have no idea, all I know is that I’m letting it work itself out naturally rather than force it. Maybe I just need a few weeks of writing less to figure out what I actually want to do instead of continuing to do what I’ve always been doing because what I was always doing is no longer what I want to be doing. I think. I don’t really know.

Meanwhile, I am very much still here running and eating pizza.

A few things to note:

It was super hot last week but has now cooled down, only to heat up a bit again this coming week. I hope it doesn’t get into the 90’s with high humidity anymore! I’m over it.

They are doing lots of road work in my neighborhood (resurfacing/repaving) which sort of affects my usual running loop. While I run mostly on the running path in my community, I do weave on and off of it to avoid sprinklers, puddles, and dog walkers, which means I do run on the roads sometimes too. Right now though, that’s a bit of a challenge depending upon where I am and where they are at with the construction. Minor inconvenience though, nothing major.

Monday – 30 Min Pure Barre/Walk

I like the 30 minute Pure Barre workouts because they are quick yet packed with effective exercises that make you feel as though you didn’t even miss out on a longer workout.

Tuesday – 5 Miles

It was hot but it didn’t bother me that much. I guess by now I’m used to it although I’m definitely ready for the cooler temps to see where my pace will fall when I put in some effort.

Wednesday – 6 Miles

Super humid again but I did okay aside from the construction in my neighborhood affecting my typical route. I had to pay attention rather than zone out to music completely because often I would forget that I needed to loop a different way and then realize it once I reached the broken ground, and need to turn around.

Thursday – 45 Min Pure Barre

I’m not really sure if I have ever done this specific 45 minute Pure Barre workout but it was a really good one!

Friday – 5 Miles

Woke up sore from yesterday’s Pure Barre workout! Considering I’ve been doing Pure Barre regularly for over 4 years, it’s always cool to still find myself sore from the workouts! I guess just the slightest changes to the positions and exercises can really make the difference for the muscles.

An easy run and exactly what I needed. The construction in my neighborhood definitely gets in my way but it didn’t matter too much today as I wasn’t looking to run too fast. I had to keep weaving around my usual route so slow was the only way to go.

5 miles

Saturday – 7.15 Miles (treadmill)

I walked outside to run outdoors but found out it was raining. Oops. Headed to my gym for the treadmill where I ran for an hour, landing me at a total distance of 7.15 miles. I played with inclines (no higher than 4.0) and some speed after a 1 mile warm up and then once I hit 7 miles, cooled down to reach 60 minutes.

Sunday – Pure Barre

Happy New Year to my Jewish friends as Rosh Hashanah begins tonight! Looking to make apple crisp? I once shared this recipe for a lighted up version for Vegan Apple Crisp. 🙂

I had a mix of treadmill and outdoor runs this week. I felt like I needed a break from the heat every few days. This weekend’s weather was crazy! I ended up running in the rain but it wasn’t too bad.

It’s always a downer when your usual running route gets disrupted. It makes you have to think during the run instead of just zoning out.

I’ll be okay with temperatures in the 80s but no humidity. Today is going to be in the 60s which will feel cold!
