Workout Recap (8.5.18 – 8.12.18)

Don’t let my workout recap post confuse you – today is Monday, not Sunday! I held off with sharing my workouts simply because I felt like taking more time away from my laptop over the weekend so I didn’t have time to put together this post.

Just a few things to note before getting to my workouts:

The sun is totally rising later and later every morning. I think this is more a problem in terms of how energized I feel when I first wake up rather than an OH NO issue for how early I can get outside to run. It used to be that I needed the extra morning sunlight to squeeze in my runs during the week but now that I run less, that’s not really a problem. < – just another reason why I love running less!

We had a heat wave this week which now turned into lots of rainy downpours at random times. The heat and humidity didn’t overly affect my outdoor runs but the rainy mornings meant treadmill runs or Pure Barre workouts. It’s supposed to continue to downpour today but it shouldn’t be as hot the next few days until maybe Thursday when it’s back at 90? I don’t know, high 80’s or 90’s with humidity starts to all feel the same sort of hot by now!

I thought about fall races this weekend because I know I had considered a 10K but I honestly don’t feel like it. Of course I could change my mind but like I’ve said and even wrote about in this post, It’s okay not to sign up for a race.Just because it seems like everyone else on social media is ALWAYS training for something, doesn’t mean you have to as well, unless you really feel like it.

workout recap

Monday – 5 Miles

I made sure to head out early but it was already hot and humid. Although, I felt okay and not really affected, even though it was also the first day of period. My friends and I all got our periods super early this month (all of us on day 23!) which is UNHEARD OF for me so we decided it just had to be a planetary thing that caused it for all of us. HA

5 miles

Tuesday – Pure Barre (50 min – Sculpted Arms)

I mentioned this Pure Barre workout in Friday’s Favorites post. I hadn’t done this Pure Barre workout in so long and it was a good one! So challenging which always means super effective.

Wednesday – 5 Miles

It was HOT out there but I felt surprisingly fine. Like I knew it was hot but I wasn’t really affected.

5 miles

Thursday – 5 Miles

Still hot but I had strength to go fast. Can’t wait to see what these paces look like in the fall. My effort is totally there but the heat for sure slows me down!

5 miles

Friday – 45 Min Pure Barre

I don’t think I had ever done the 45 min Pure Barre workout I selected today — it was a good one!

Saturday – 7 miles (treadmill)

It was a rainy morning which was fine with me because I don’t hate the treadmill. I had energy so I pushed my pace a bit finishing 7 miles in 57 minutes. I slowed my pace and ran easy to finish up the hour. Went really fast!

Sunday – 45 Min Pure Barre

Another new-to-me Pure Barre workout, at least I don’t think I had done this one before. This is why I love Pure Barre On Demand – terrific variety so you never feel like you are repeating workouts unless you choose to repeat them.

The heat and humidity was terrible last week. You still got in a ton of great runs though!

The best thing I ate this weekend was probably the omelette I had for breakfast yesterday. It had been so long since I had one and I truly love them!

Great job on your runs last week! I always get so excited to see my paces improve in the fall, although oddly enough this summer some of my best runs were done in the heat and humidity. The best thing I ate this weekend was a bison burger while camping.

It’s also getting darker earlier now which is great for Ave’s bedtime but not for my ability to take pictures. Oh well, it’s a minor concession these days I suppose. 🙂

This morning my workout will be running, yesterday was laying on the couch and trying to relax after a full weekend. We were in Buffalo with my family which also means I did go running with my Dad both days.

Looks like you got in some great workouts! I actually worked out 5 days in a row last week, which I haven’t done in forever. Mostly Crossfit workouts, but I got some yoga in too.

The best thing I ate this weekend was a slice of Napoleon cake from a bakery I love. It was so creamy and delicious.
