Friday Favorites July 27, 2018

I should start today’s Friday Favorites post with saying my son is home from his teen tour. I picked him up from the airport yesterday!

Final snapchat map — this one really made me laugh when my friend sent it to me. We will miss tracking the kids!

If it feels as though my son had just left for his teen tour, please realize it’s already been a month.

I KNOW.

Where did the time go? How did July move so fast? What the heck did I actually do in my free time? Why didn’t I have the carpets cleaned as planned? Why didn’t I fully clean out and organize the hall closet?

Rather than attempt to answer those questions, let’s just say that he had an amazing time and experienced a whole lot of states and places on the west coast. These teen tour years are so incredible and he has memories now for a lifetime. I’m beyond grateful that I was able to give him this opportunity on my own and we are already discussing where he will go next year. Not that I was ready to hear Hawaii and Alaska but I will deal with it if that’s what happens. That’s far!

Before moving on to a few favorites, please know that I already have his laundry washed and folded. I do not mess around!

Favorite Fitness:

I think I’m just going to go with an overall feeling of loving how flexible my workout routine is right now. That’s what I was thinking about during my run yesterday. Long gone are the weekday runs of 8 miles because it’s what I always did meaning it was what I had to continue to do. Now I just go with it, usually running 5, sometimes less, sometimes not at all, and really loving to walk more than ever before.

I remain so thankful that I dropped that shampoo bottle on my foot New Year’s Eve because it completely changed the course of this year for me in a really positive way.

Favorite Food:

Still thinking about the black out cake from dinner the other night. Love the rich fudge frosting!

Favorite Fashion:

So I randomly pulled a pair of black lace shorts of out my drawer yesterday. I haven’t worn them in two years and maybe only wore them once in the past. It’s always fun to find something in your drawers to realize you really like it now!

I threw it together with one of those splendid camisoles and a Sanctuary denim shirt that I’ve had – sit down for this – since the year 2000.

Throughout all of my closet clean outs, this denim shirt has stayed because I always knew it was a classic. I have gone years without wearing it and then bring it back as a regular.

Loving the jeweled sandals this summer! I can’t find a link for the lace shorts but these tie-waist satin shorts are so cute and on sale!

Ready for a Friday Flashback?

I wore that very same denim shirt in this picture taken (I think) the night before my wedding in November 2001! That’s my dog Cindy. 🙂

Glad your son is back home! Despite the free time, I’m sure you missed him and are ready to have him home.

I clean out my closets every few months, but I think I really should do it every month. Things always pile up!

My children did Hawaii and Alaska and China/ Hong Kong and Eastern Europe/ Israel and played soccer and travelled throughout Spain one summer of course individually they are four years apart. Travel is a major gift. We travelled constantly as a family—Turkey, Morocco, Greece, etc. send him it is so awesome. We still gift our kids gifts of travel each year as their holiday presents. A full paid trip to Europe—they travel with their significant others and they are so grateful. They went on West coast Connection and American Trails West(which I know is now owned by Rein).

I’m glad your son got home safely!

I’m so bad at cleaning out my closets…I need a rainy weekend to go through them again then make a big donation. I have some stuff in a pile to donate from the past few months.

3 things for this weekend – 12 mile run, winery date and maybe sushi or Mexican takeout. Have a good weekend!

I can’t believe its already been a month since your son left! This summer is really going way too fast. I try to clean out my closet at least twice a year. I try not to save too many thing I don’t wear because I forget about them and never end up wearing them!

Welcome home!! Laundry done and folded. I’m impressed. If you’re available next weekend, I’ve got some space (and dirty clothes) here. 🙂 Truth be told, I did all out laundry the day after we got home from vacation so you can just visit.
