Mother’s Day Breakfast At Maureen’s Kitchen

Our 9th annual Mother’s Day breakfast tradition is in the books!

No joke, if you don’t arrive at Maureen’s Kitchen when they open at 7:00 AM, you are going to wait. We pulled in at 6:58 AM to see a line at the door. If you get there at 7:15, trust me when I say you will be waiting for a table and the wait only gets worse from there.

How tall is my bunny? I can’t even believe it sometimes.

I sort of knew what I would order but I looked at the menu anyway.

My son’s pancakes stole the show. On the specials menu for yesterday was a listing for “Everything But The Kitchen Sink” pancakes. Our server explained that the pancakes included white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, Oreo’s, m&m’s, and caramel. Not exactly up my alley but my son went for it!

I stuck with a bowl of the baked oatmeal served with a side of milk that you pour over the oatmeal. Perfect as always.

My mom asked me if the breakfast tradition I have with my son is still so special. I said yes, it’s just different because I’m not solving the problem of what to do with him so early in the morning since he now sleeps late! Funny how things change.

We love our special breakfast and we love that we don’t have to wait for a table but it definitely makes for a long day ahead! The good thing now though is that we get home and my son goes back to sleep. When he was younger, I would have to jump from activity to activity to keep him occupied after breakfast. HA.

Later in the day, we headed over to my parents’ house. I had picked up my mom’s favorite peonies from Whole Foods (talk about waiting in line, I waited on two lines for those flowers) and then my mom and I went shopping.

A stop for a quick lunch at The Little Beet.

I didn’t actually buy anything but my mom grabbed some of the recommended e.l.f. skincare that I suggested and I went back to Nordstrom for one of those swimsuit cover ups that I wanted – of course it was gone.

My son and I ended up home for dinner because he wasn’t feeling great so we left my parents earlier than expected. His allergies are really bad this season!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and a nice Mother’s Day. ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVE your Mother’s Day recaps. I think it’s the sweetest that your son is still so into them. Just goes to show that even when he’s calling you lame and refusing to be seen with you, he still thinks you’re pretty dang cool (’cause trust me, teenage boys would never willingly wake up before 7 unless they really really want to) ๐Ÿ˜‰
I’m always super jealous of your Maureen’s Kitchen recipes bc it sounds amazing, and I really want to go, but I also live in Brooklyn, so I don’t think I’d be super willing to wake up at 5am for it hehe. Though maybe with some convincing? ๐Ÿ˜‰

thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a bit of a drive to maureen’s from Brooklyn (it’s even a drive for me) but maybe if you are heading out east this summer like to the north fork or something, you can stop on the way!

Happy Mother’s Day! Your baked oatmeal looks so good. PS I got some of the e.l.f skincare that you recommend this weekend!

Ha, this was the first year I said that we couldn’t have it at our house. We just got a puppy and I want to make sure he has all of his shots before we have a ton of people over.

The best thing I ate were banana pancakes that my 10 year old made for me and some cherry chocolate chip froyo.
