My brain is all over the place right now. Between packing to go away later this week while trying to keep up with work, the blog, my son, and life, I’m struggling to think clearly or even sit down for more than two minutes! For this reason, today’s post is going to sound more like a random thinking out loud rather than a weekend recap.
1 – The cashier at Trader Joe’s gave me a lollipop as my praise for not only packing my own groceries (I always do though to help), but for fitting everything so nicely inside one reusable bag. I’m trying really hard to bring my reusable bags with me no matter where I do my food shopping. The new law mandates stores in Suffolk County to charge five cents per plastic bag. Since I live on the border of Nassau and Suffolk Counties, the whole bag situation is getting really confusing! I do like reusable bag life though, that is when I remember to bring them with me.
2 – I did some organizing in the house over the weekend! Anyone else feel the need to clean out and organize things that can totally wait, especially when you have 100 other things you should be doing instead? I don’t know why I always do this to myself. Anyway, here’s what I did…
- Cleaned out the kitchen junk drawer (!!)
- Organized the Kitchen Pantry
- Tore through four out of eight of my son’s dresser drawers PLUS my closet! I made three big bags of clothing and donated them immediately in those clothing drop bins.
3 – I had lunch at Panera two days in a row which was completely unplanned and totally random.
4 – Maybe I will run a 10K this spring. I always liked a good 10K and right now, that distance seems most appealing. Maybe the Aspire 10K again?
5 – Saturday afternoon we ended up at my parents’ house. I went out for a manicure/pedicure (plus hit the local boutiques in their town) while my son stayed at their house to play hockey outside.
We stayed for dinner. You know the pizza plus salad combination is always my favorite.
Her’s my dinner plate X two.
6 – I had my blog photo shoot Thursday afternoon and I’ve been busy going through the photo gallery! The photo shoot was so much fun and quite a learning experience. I definitely found my headshot, now it’s just a matter of selecting a few other images that I like from the mix.
7 – I spotted this on Facebook over the weekend and it totally made me laugh. Perhaps I need to order the shirt for my son to wear to school. It reminds me of my son’s seventh grade math teacher more than any of his other teachers actually. He was always moving my son’s seat, even trying to put him so far in the back of the room that he labeled it, Benji Island.
You know, like an isolated spot that was supposed to keep him from talking to anyone else in the room. Sometimes I threaten to send him to Benji Island too.
It’s relatively warm here right now in New York that I do think I can run outside again this morning! What a concept.
Have a great week!
weekend randomness on the blog today! #weekend #10k #blog #photoshoot #pizza #panera Click To TweetWho else decides to clean out closets, drawers, and cabinets when they have a ton of other things they need to be doing?
Do you have a race on your calendar right now? Which one?
Best thing you ate over the weekend?
At this point I don’t have any races on the calendar, although I have a few in mind for March/April. I just hate to sign up for anything too far in advance! I didnt realize Suffolk county was charging for bags! I heard about some areas doing it but it hasn’t happened here yet. When we get amazon groceries they come in either reusable totes or paper bags that we can recycle. I think I would always forget to bring reusable bags with me to the grocery store.

they are totally charging, even in the mall!
I always help bag groceries when I’m at the store! I don’t see why people don’t, you are just prolonging the check out process. And if you’re able bodied be considerate and bag your own groceries!
I’m convinced cleaning and organizing gets done whenever I have something I need to do but don’t really want to do. For races, I currently just have the Rutgers half marathon on my calendar for April 15th. I may add a shorter race or two before then though.
I agree about bagging! I don’t know how or why people don’t help out – especially since it makes things go quicker when we help!
LOL I SO relate to the cleaning when you’ve got 80 million other things to do. It doesn’t happen TOO often, but when it hits, it hits. Last weekend I had a ton of homework I should’ve been doing and instead I decided to vacuum the floors, clean the fridge, wipe down all the surfaces, and disinfect my electronics. LOL I will say it feels good when you know everything is nice and clean. Best thing I ate over the weekend was a mushroom swiss cheese omelet that came with the most delicious hash browns in an adorable breakfast place called Ted’s Bulletin here in DC 🙂

your hash browns mention makes me think of how much I like really well done home fries lol
Haha in college and grad school, my apartment was always cleanest around exams! Ryan even caught me vacuuming the morning of my surgery (when I wasn’t allowed to even drink water) because apparently, that’s my response to stress. I think a clean place makes me feel like everything is more together. You should do the 10K!

I guess I do the same thing when I’m stressed, completely subconsciously!

A blog photoshoot sounds super exciting! That’s something I’ve actually been meaning to do forever now but just keep putting it off ’cause I find photos super awkward 😆 Can’t wait to see yours!

You’re making me want to organize all the things and eat pizza, despite the fact I had pizza for dinner last night.
