Summer Training Week #4

Like the rest of the summer, the last four weeks of training with Laura have flown by! This was already week #4 and I really can’t believe how fast it went. I so enjoy having her plan my workouts and mileage for the week. I haven’t exactly decided beyond this week if I will be continuing in terms of training for a race. It’s a conversation that is still up in the air but I will let you know once I make a decision.

Before getting to my workouts from the week, I really liked this article from Women’s Health, 5 Sneaky Signs Your Body May Already Be At The Right Weight For You. It’s all just so true and I really think you will appreciate it.

Monday – 5 Miles/ Pure Barre

I didn’t sleep great so I woke up tired. The sun is also starting to rise a bit later which didn’t help me! Anyway, an easy 5 miles went by pretty fast considering I wasn’t all that awake.

I combined two Pure Barre Tone in 10 workouts:

  • Full Body
  • Seat & Abs

Tuesday – 7 Miles

I ran a little bit later than usual which made me feel mentally rushed for this run. Feeling rushed actually got me to run on the faster end of easy for me which isn’t really a bad thing. I just wanted to get the 7 miles done because I felt behind schedule.

Wednesday – 7 Miles (fartleks)

The plan for today was 7 miles with 5 rounds of 3 minutes at 5K pace/2 minutes easy.

tempo run

I actually handled this run super well. The sun was shining bright but the humidity was low and I felt great. I glanced down a few times during the 5K paced minutes and I was ranging between 6:50 -7:22 every time so I think I hit my mark.

Thursday – 5 Miles (treadmill)

I ran much later than normal and actually liked it! While it won’t become a habit, it’s nice to know that I can get a great run in later in the morning. 5 miles on the treadmill which totally flew by in 42 minutes.

I was scheduled for a Pure Barre workout today but really didn’t have enough time so I decided to hold off until tomorrow.

Friday – 4 Miles/30 Min Pure Barre

Just an easy 4 miles outside followed by a 30 minute Pure Barre workout!

Saturday – 10 Miles

It was supposed to thunderstorm but I got lucky and it didn’t so I was able to run outdoors.

The plan for today was:

  • 5 miles easy
  • 4 miles repeating 1 minute 10K pace/2 minutes easy
  • 1 mile easy

Actually, it was only supposed to be 3 miles repeating but I felt so good that I added an extra mile and then cut the cool down at the end.

Sunday – Pure Barre

Not sure just yet which Pure Barre workout I will choose. They are always adding new workouts to Pure Barre On Demand so I need to check it out.

I think this was the first week that the later sunrise was really noticeable. I can’t believe it’s already that time of year- I feel like we just finally got to the point of the really early sunrises! I don’t do well at all running later in the day. At this point I feel like I cant really eat a real meal before I work out so I need to get it done before I get hungry for breakfast!

I prefer earlier morning runs, like 6am. And that basically feels like sleeping in.

I’m pretty much up before the sun every day anyway, so I hardly notice 😉 I have to be at work at 7:15 and I like working out before that so you can imagine what time I’m usually up.
