My friend Dina borrowed my can opener last week. I told her there was no rush in returning it, I just wouldn’t be able to open a can of chickpeas until she gave it back. Let’s see how long I can go before not having a can opener starts to bother me. I usually open at least one can of chickpeas a week but right now, I think I will use my lack of a can opener as more of an excuse to eat out. Or as an excuse to cook quinoa and replicate the vegetarian tacos that I had Monday night at Dos Caminos. Wow, those were so good.
Although let’s be real.
I am not cooking anything these days and certainly not opening a can of chickpeas as I don’t even have a can in the pantry. I barely have any food in the pantry right now and even ran out of coffee yesterday. Chickpeas I can live without but coffee? No way! How did I not notice I was running low on coffee?!
Thank goodness for living next door to Meaghan who kindly gave me a few K Cups to make it through this morning before I can get myself to the store.
I guess we can say that I’ve been living some sort of bachelorette life this summer with my son away. I’m not cooking or home much as I am trying to do all of the things that I can while my responsibilities are at a minimum.
While I am having a blast living this fun, carefree life, it’s definitely starting to catch up with me as I AM SO TIRED.
However, there was no way I was going to let a little fatigue stop me from driving into the city yesterday to see Heather as soon as she arrived from Florida. I despise driving into and around the city but I make exceptions for a select few people and Heather is at the top of my list.
We spent the afternoon eating, laughing and shopping just as planned. First stop was for pizza.
And then the mandatory stop at Dylan’s Candy Bar before shopping around Bloomingdale’s. I went with my usual Dylan’s Candy Bar mix of nonpareils, chocolate covered cookie dough, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered raisins and a few sour cherries to balance things out.
And then there was the stop at the psychic because we believe in that sort of stuff but that’s a whole other story for another day.

I realize today is July 13 but while checking my old posts I spotted that I walked to Fire Island on July 17, 2013. Four years ago already and that post is still a big summertime google search. I plan to walk to Fire Island again this summer so stay tuned for that post!
Bachelorette Life & City Fun #thinkingoutloud #NYC #pizza #city #dylandscandybar Click To TweetHow often do you use your can opener?
Which candy would you choose from Dylan’s Candy Bar or other candy store?
Do you like your neighbors? Would they lend you coffee? Or a can opener?
Sounds like a fun day!
I love my neighbors 🙂 We live on a cul de sac and talk to most of our neighbors. I typically go for chocolate cinnamon bears.

Nonpareils and chocolate covered pretzels are the bomb!!! It’s so obv the deep friendship/love shared by you and heather just by both your body language in the picture. Enjoy your bff and free time that’s what summers all about. I always say I am living my second childhood and boy is it a blast. ❤️

Oh yay! I’m glad you’re having so much fun! It’s so important for us mamas to return to who we are and not lose our identity in motherhood. I mean obviously we love being moms, but you know what I mean.

Sounds like a fun day! Nonpareils are one of my favorite types of candy also, along with chocolate covered raisins. I don’t eat them often but they are definitely what I would get at a candy bar.

I think a can opener is one of those things that I never use but as soon as I didnt have one I would need one immediately. Im sure one of my neighbors would lend me coffee but I don’t think they would like me asking them for it at 5am!

I’m so glad you’ve got your girlfriend Heather in town. They’re worth the lack of sleep, although I’m feeling you on the tired train. I almost ran out of coffee too. Like what is going on with us?!
I want to go to a psychic too.
