Before we get to some of my recent eats from the last few days, I wanted to say thank you for the great comments on Monday’s post. It seems more than a few of us are looking to put less of a focus on our next meal. Please remember, this doesn’t mean that we aren’t still foodies or that we don’t care how we fuel our bodies. It simply means we don’t need to focus or obsess about every bite. It’s such a waste of mental space, time and energy to care that much. My theory has basically always been that if we follow a good workout routine and know the facts about nutrient dense foods and a balance diet, what more is there to think about? Just let the brain and rest of the body do the job for us without the extra thoughts.
Who remembers when I lived for eating my oatmeal from an almost-empty peanut butter jar? It’s been a while since I had my post-run oatmeal served this way but it was a nice treat. This oats in a jar combo contained cold oatmeal mixed with blueberries, strawberries, Skoop B-Strong and peanut butter.
I finally had my salad from Chopt. I think it’s the spicy tahini dressing that keeps bringing me back for more.
I’m noticing a salad trend as of late but mostly served with some sort of carbohydrate.
Pizza and salad are one of my all time favorite dinner combinations. We had grandma pizza and salad the other night for dinner with my parents. Does anyone else notice when I eat at my parents’ house? I feel like I pick up on their dishes in my posts. 🙂
Aside from loving pizza and salad together, I also love the salad plus bagel combination.
We went to Town Bagel for lunch over the weekend. Although it takes FOREVER between waiting on line and getting the salad made, it’s always worth it. Especially for the bagel. My new favorite bagel is slowly becoming the maple raisin multigrain bagel.
I have only ever had this type of bagel at Town Bagel and it’s definitely up there as a favorite just like my beloved French toast bagel. You really taste the maple flavor in the maple raisin multigrain bagels and the texture of the kettle-cooked bagel combined with the seeds and raisins is just terrific.
Since I am now a really boring cook at home, this is what I like to call dinner lately.
A basic Greek salad with avocado plus a plate of roasted potatoes. A salad with potatoes, be it baked or roasted, sweet potato or regular potato, is a perfect weeknight dinner if you ask me.
I am completely lacking in the dessert department this week. Nothing too new or exciting taking place in the evenings aside from chocolate chips. Oh! And watermelon. A whole lot of watermelon all day and night.Recent Eats on the blog today! #recenteats #salad #bagels #townbagel #oatsinajar #peanutbutter #pizza Click To Tweet

What do you like to combine with a salad to make it a fun and full meal? Soup and salad? Sandwich and salad? Or any of the salad combinations I mentioned today?
Anyone else still eating their oatmeal in an almost-empty peanut butter jar?
