I was in the city Monday night and definitely felt the FA LA LA feeling as soon as I walked out of Penn Station.
It takes a lot to get me out the door and into the city (by train no less) on a Monday night following a holiday weekend but I wanted to go which made it fun and worth it. Isn’t that always the case? When we want to do something, we find a way, when we don’t, we find an excuse.
I was in Trader Joe’s yesterday and look what I spotted! They have GIANT CHOCOLATE BARS. And when I say giant, I mean giant. These chocolate bars, which come in both milk and dark chocolate, are over four pounds of chocolate!
Yesterday’s workout was a great one. I remembered to bring my jump rope with me to the gym so I broke up my treadmill run with jump roping segments combined with lower body strength stuff and loved every second of it.
I always leave the gym so energized after these types of workouts which is exactly why they will continue to make an appearance in my routine each week.
Remember a few weeks ago when I was all about finding coffee mugs that matched?
While I still want to get this All That Glitters coffee mug from Henri Bendel, I am glad that I didn’t part with my cute little cup and saucer set that matches my dishes because they are the perfect size for coffee from my Nespresso machine.
I was lucky to have received a Nespresso machine to test out and I have really loved sampling the Gourmesso line of coffee. I think that what I love most actually is how fast the machine brews the cups of coffee! I literally turn the thing on and it’s ready to brew me a cup which is great for the impatient must have coffee now side of my personality.
So I finished watching Gilmore Girls last night on Netflix.
Three major thoughts/questions for you:
1. I loved the episodes and so much of it was touching/deep/funny but did anyone else find long stretches of it boring?
2. How do we feel about Rory’s relationships? There was a time in my life when the whole Logan thing would have shocked/appalled/disgusted me but the older I seem to get, the more I understand. Things like that can happen and they happen more than we think.
3. Is it believable that Rory didn’t have an amazing job at the age of 32? My mother is stuck on that one.
On This Day:
I always enjoy looking back at posts but this week’s On This Day round-up really features some great posts that I have written in the past!
12/1/15: Winter Weather Workout Favorites – This list, mostly of lululemon workout apparel, still holds true for this year as a complete list of my winter weather workout favorites! I haven’t bought one new thing yet for this winter and there’s a good chance that I won’t purchase another thing until Spring.
12/1/14: Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookies (with dairy free version) – I made my famous oatmeal raisin chocolate chip cookies just last week for Thanksgiving! So delicious and always a hit.
12/1/13: A Life Without The Scale – One of my most popular posts ever about why I gave up the scale. I have no idea what I currently weigh and I am totally fine with it.

Favorite coffee flavor/variety these days?
Do you own a scale?
I love NYC at Christmas time but its alot to handle! I never really watched Gilmore Girls so I haven’t been watching it lately. We do have a scale somewhere but it doesn’t work (I should probably just throw it out!)

ha yeah, definitely a lot to handle right now especially midtown by the tree. between that and trump they are telling people to definitely not drive in!
We were in the city over the weekend but not really by my choice. It always feels like a hassle to go no matter what for me so I need someone else to make that decision! I do like the holiday feeling in December though. And I feel like the only person ever who doesn’t watch Gilmore Girls!

i remember watching Gilmore when it first started and i still lived at home before i was married!
I haven’t finished GG yet, but I agree with everything that you said. I don’t think it’s surprising that someone at Rory’s age doesn’t have a solid job, but I think it’s surprising that SHE doesn’t. I always thought she would have everything figured out professionally! I always pictured her as a reporter for CNN on the front lines in the middle east or reporting on third world countries or something. We’ll see how the final two “seasons” go!

you are so right about rory! she should have the solid job based on her past and yes to a reporter for CNN! yes! that would be right for her, or so we thought!
I loved Gilmore Girls back in high school and college but I couldn’t bring myself to watch the revival. The show sort of went downhill in the final season and I can’t stand Logan. Plus Rory really should have had an amazing job by 32.

ohhh you should watch it! just because!
Wow Meredith that chocolate bar is so big it looks like a book! Cool!

I think you got a perfect Monday there. Chocolate, coffee in a perfect mug, and everyone’s favourite TV Show. How can this be better? Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Btw, I don’t find any long stretches of the show. I enjoyed every minute of it 🙂

isn’t that chocolate bar so cool!
That TJ’s chocolate bar understands how much chocolate I need in my life. That said, my high school boyfriend got me a 5-pound Hershey bar, and cutting it up to eat was quite the chore. 😛

I don’t get worked up about TV often, but I hated the revival. I’ve been a Gilmore Girls fan since I was about 8, and I thought that between Rory’s immaturity in her relationships, her lack of direction at 32, and the almost-entirely-pointless musical, the show/characters deserved better.

i didn’t like the musical part either!
I remember watching Gilmore Girls back in the day, but I never really got into it and can hardly remember much about it. I thought about taking it up now, but I suck at tv and can never manage to get through shows 😆 And I would like to have that much chocolate in my life, please and thank you.

i think you should watch it anyway.
I feel so boring, but I’ve never watched Gilmore Girls. I heard there were mixed feelings about it. Also, it would be so fun to be in NYC during the Christmas seasons; that’s one of my goals someday, if the Lord wills.

yes! you have to come to new York during the holidays!
Haha! I love Laura’s comment. She’s usually so sweet; I didn’t think it was possible for Laura to “can’t stand” anyone! Logan is a dick, though. So he’s can’t standable for sure. I’m watching it although I looked up the spoilers. I know, I know. It’s my thing. It eases my anxiety. I’m also one of those people who reads the last page of a book before I read the whole thing. Oh and I found that musical scene to be extremely boring. It was CRAZY long and boring.

of course i liked logan. of course i did! lol i totally knew the last line of the show before getting to it too!
I’ve recently switched from TJ’s espresso coffee blend to their Wake Up morning blend and LOVE IT. I make cold brew and hot coffee in the french press with it and love it both ways. It’s definitely a new favorite!

i was buying trader joe’s kcups for a while but haven’t bought them in a few months
The giant chocolate bar, really, that got my attention at first. You know I love milk chocolate as much as love to see Gilmore Girls, every season totally amuses me. I see eye to eye with you that when we want to do something we find the way. And Christmas is the time that makes me move to NYC 🙂
love the city this time of year!
OMG that chocolate bar is crazy HUGE!… did you get one? or 7 😉

i really need to get one! I just saw it by the register and was in shock at how big it was!
Look at the giant chocolate bar, want to have it!!! Did you buy it? Milk chocolate with a cup of coffee and enjoy a TV show is perfect for the weekend!!!
I’ve only watched the first episode of Gilmore Girls and I loved it for nostalgic reasons. It was a bit boring although it was refreshing to hear their witty banter again and I adore anything with Emily in it. She’s fantastic even in street clothes.
My little brother has a Nespresso machine and he adores it. I may have to check them out.
