My Top 5 Favorite Summer 2016:
1. Memorial Day Weekend Recap:
It’s always exciting when the unofficial start of summer rolls around! Looking back at this post now, I am a little bit sad that I only ran the boardwalk once this summer but it’s been so super hot that I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
We went to Hershey Park for a few days back in June before my son started camp. We love going to Hershey and hope to go again next summer although really, I hope to run the Hershey Half Marathon next fall!
I finally devoted a blog post to my first half marathon experience which was at Hershey Park back in October of 2012. You can read that race recap here if you missed it.
3. I ran one race this summer, the Independence Day Run on July 4th.
I don’t love racing in the heat nor do I love running short distances but I do appreciate this hometown race on the holiday. Plus, they give watermelon at the finish line.
4. The Red Carpet Event for work back in July was super awesome. Of course it stands out in my mind because the desserts were out of control but overall, it was an amazing event industry get together hosted and sponsored by a serious group of leading New York event industry professionals. You can read more about the Red Carpet Event here.
5. We finally went to Black Tap NYC to try the crazy shakes this week!
I don’t have a bucket list but if I did, the shakes at Black Tap would be on the list for sure. We headed into the city the other day on a mission to try the Black Tap shakes just to see what all the hoopla has been about.
It’s an unassuming place by the way. Nothing fancy, just a random bar in the Meatpacking District of the city.
We thought we would have to wait on a line outside for a crazy long time based on what we have heard but we were seated within minutes.
I can’t say we liked our seats though. We were crammed in between other people at a long high top table and it was extremely warm in there but hey, we wanted to try the shakes so we stuck it out.
Here’s the shakes menu:
I was deciding between The Cookie Shake and the Brooklyn Blackout. I went with the Brooklyn Blackout mainly because of the chocolate frosted rim instead of the vanilla frosted rim on The Cookie Shake.
Look at this thing! Loaded with giant brownies, chocolate chips, chocolate frosting and whipped cream. Don’t ask me how the actual shake tasted since I was all about the toppings. I didn’t care to take more than a sip of the shake, I am really not a shake person anyway. Why drink my meal? I prefer to chew.
If I were to go back to Black Tap, I would definitely try The Cookie Shake or even the Sweet N Salty. The Cookie Shake was really cool because it had chipwiches stuck on just like the brownies were positioned in my shake.
Have a great holiday weekend!

3 things you plan to do this weekend?
I always think its funny/interesting which posts draw peoples attention (or get alot of hits from search engines!) You did alot of fun things this summer! I really don’t know where the last few months went but it helps to be able to look back at blog posts and see what I did:)

yeah, I am amused at which posts randomly pop up from search engine terms too.
What a fun summer recap! Looks like it was a good one 🙂 I have never been to Black Tap before, but boy would I like to go there some day soon. I’m a sucker for extravagant dessert creations.
Three things I’m doing this week: running(hopefully), homework, and baking. I can’t wait!

definitely recommend you try black tap if you are in the city!
I showed Ryan the photo of the shake last night and he was amazed at how over the top it was! Like Lisa said, it’s funny to me which posts attract the most readers. Some I can predict and others surprise me.

That milkshake is outrageous!
Three things I got planned this weekend:

-NOT a super long run! Much needed cut back week in our training plan!
-Friend’s “Fancy Friday” party tonight … Basically a reason to get dressed up and drink champagne
-And that’s about it 🙂 Love not booking myself solid over long weekends!

I know, I like not being too busy either! have a good weekend
OMG I’m not a shake person either, but the Sweet N Salty has my name all over it.

Three things this weekend: go go-carting with my dad (I’m honestly terrified), watch the first OSU football game, and binge watch The Americans.

the sweet and salty looks really good. have a great weekend!
I love this post!! The Black Tap looks so good- I might have to convince my boyfriend to come with me there this weekend!! That shake though…I’m like you, sipping my food doesn’t exactly appeal to me, I’d much rather chew, and that brownie shake/sundae looks incredible 🙂 Happy Labor Day Weekend!
I’m totally with you on shakes; my favorite way to eat them is with crunchy toppings or mix-ins!
Oh man! I wouldn’t even know where to start with that shake but know I’d like some elbow room to get in there. 🙂 Related, I eat like a barbarian. My husband doesn’t like sweet treats (I know), which means no need to share. Weekend plans are packing to move, napping, and running. Now adding eating chocolate chips to that list!
Holy moly that shake! Not surprised about the frozen veggie one since people need practical advice all the time. Sort of funny though!
