week in review #5

Happy Monday! Let’s chat Week in Review style…

Week-In-Review-Button-Final

Blog Stuff:

I get so lost in my blog sometimes without even trying — drafting posts, working on the behind the scenes technical stuff, organizing things, responding to comments, loading photos — if I didn’t love this blog and the blogging community as much as I do, I don’t think I would be able to do it all with a smile on my face.

I published five posts this week instead of my usual six – this doesn’t happen often but sometimes I could use a day off from writing. Besides, my race recap deserved an extra day to shine. 🙂

Work Stuff:

I am busy plugging away on a bunch of awesome blog posts for AllSeated while preparing their next newsletter.

AllSeated website

Something of interest to you: Hannah from Clean Eating Veggie Girl will be the next featured bride in the bridal spotlight! Hannah was recently married and loved using AllSeated to help plan her wedding. I will share the link to the post when it goes live!

Running Stuff:

I talked about my race recovery week in yesterday’s workout recap post. Wondering what’s up next for me in terms of races and workouts? I am working on that post and hope to have it up tomorrow.

I thought I would be sharing a race photo right about here but my photos are missing from the race photo site! I emailed the company to let them know that my number cannot be found.

Uh huh.

Bar Mitzvah Stuff:

We are down to only two Hebrew school classes left and my excitement cannot be overstated!

Wednesday afternoon started my son’s first private lesson with the cantor to further prepare him for his Bar Mitzvah service. We will have these weekly Wednesday lessons basically from now through October.

He looks thrilled, doesn’t he? Maybe he’s just focused. Let’s pretend he’s focused.

In Bar Mitzvah planning news:

The Guest List is complete which means the invitations can go to production this week.

Next up on my list for right now:

Hairstyle trials: I need to figure out how I want to wear my hair!

Photo Montage: I need to start to organize 160 photos of my son by August for the photographer to transform into a video montage that will be played at the party.

Games/Extras: I am so not up to this part but it’s on my mind to begin to select the extra entertainment.

Weekend Stuff:

Friday night we headed to Brooklyn for game four of the second round of the playoffs.

islanders game

My Islanders lost in overtime (I don’t want to talk about it) and I also don’t want to talk about security taking my emergency Quest Bar from my purse. I didn’t know if I should scream at them or just cry. I think I did a bit of both if you want to know the truth.

I did enjoy a big bag of popcorn. Popcorn has been my stadium snack of choice lately which is weird for me since I am a sweet tooth, not a salty tooth.

Saturday was packed with my long run, errands, Little League and ignoring laundry.

I guess it was a pretty tiring day?

Benji

That sleeping face gets me every time, looks the same as he did when he would sleep in his car seat.

We were up and out early to beat the crowd at Maureen’s Kitchen for our traditional Mother’s Day breakfast. I thought we were going to the Premiere Diner but the final choice was Maureen’s Kitchen. I am not complaining, I love both places.

We like to sit at the counter to watch them cook the pancakes.

pancakes

Pretty sure those are my whole wheat blueberry banana pancakes on the griddle. I usually get the baked oatmeal but I felt like doing something different for a change.

Whole wheat pancakes with blueberries and bananas, a side of egg whites and lots of coffee.

My son ordered the oreo pancakes which came with eggs, bacon and sausage. He even let me have a strawberry or two from his plate.

Maureen's Kitchen breakfast

The best part about this Mother’s Day is that when we got home from breakfast, my son changed back into his pajamas to go back to sleep. Funny how things change over the years since we started this tradition! I originally started it years ago to give us something to do when he would be up so early as a little boy and I didn’t know what to do with him.

We spent the rest of the day over by my parents watching the Islanders game (I really don’t want to talk about them losing which means the end to their season) and having sushi from Kashi for dinner.

I put myself in charge of dessert and brought my mother her favorite peonies too.

I selected a mix of cupcakes and this other chocolate cake thing for myself.

Time to tackle another week!

Happy Mother’s Day!! I’m glad you had a nice breakfast and went with the blueberry pancakes. I was totally rooting for the hotcakes.

I love peonies. They’re so dang pretty and congrats on getting the guest list complete. Pretty soon, you’re going to be all set for the big Bar Mitzvah.

Also I bought popcorn too, which is totally out of character for me, and I’ve been eating it like a mad woman these days.

I always have to remember to take out my purse snacks when I go to hockey games and it’s annoying. Sometimes I don’t want to pay exorbitant amounts for stadium food or I just forget, so my dad just buries them in inside pockets of his coat 😛 It only works in the winter, but the Blue Jackets don’t usually make it far into the spring.

I usually put the emergency snacks in a different part of my bag, I am shocked they took it though! I haven’t had an issue all season. The Islanders don’t get far in the spring either most of the time lol

Awwe, crappy about the Islanders. BOOOOOO. I won’t talk about it. Your son is hilarious. I love the pic of him in class. Glad you had a good Mother’s Day yesterday! The foods look AMAZING. Yummo.

so upset about the islanders! I knew they wouldn’t win the cup, but you know, you still want them to keep playing through the rounds of the playoffs. on to baseball season I suppose now!

I normally go for the sweet snacks, but I’ve been craving a little bit more salty lately too. And would it be crazy to say that I kind of forgot about popcorn? 😆 I can’t even remember the last time I had it, but I love the stuff! Time to bust out the maker, me thinks.

Yum, I love any and all pancakes. Excellent choice you made, because blueberries are the best. Best thing I ate this weekend was french toast with homemade blueberry syrup. I was originally going to make brunch for a bunch of friends that are graduating but it turned into breakfast for dinner. Now I plan on putting some of the leftover blueberry syrup on ice cream because I think that’s more socially acceptable than eating it straight out of the tupperware!

Like everyone else I can’t believe security took your quest bar. Just goes to show how desperate healthy people are to get something to eat when at sporting events. Something needs to be done about that! I am usually a sweet person, that cakes looks to die for! I could never eat potato chips again and be fine with it, but take chocolate from me, heck NO!

I was so annoyed! it’s not like they sold protein bars and I was bringing something in that I could buy there. I just like one in my bag in case of an emergency snack situation.

We went to a Mother’s Day brunch with Rob’s parents and the griddle wasn’t working properly so the pancakes were not cooking well! His dad tried one and said it was undercooked so I didn’t even try one. Luckily there was lots of other good stuff!
That’s so disappointing about the race photos! Hopefully they get it sorted out for you!
