I woke up in a bit of a mood both Monday and Tuesday morning. Not tired per say, just moody. Now, of course there’s always that chance that my moodiness may just be a product of my ever-charming, often hormonally driven + Gemini + Jewish mother + New Yorker personality but that wasn’t quite it.
It took me until Tuesday morning, as I grumbled my way in the dark over to the treadmill, to realize that I was in fact in a mood because of daylight savings time!
I was really enjoying the early morning light lately for my runs and now it’s gone. Waking up in the dark and having to run indoors on the treadmill again because it’s dark outside even though it’s after 6:00 am is not nice. I am ready for Spring, okay?
I realize that with each passing day comes an earlier sunrise so I am just focusing on trying to remain early morning pleasant as best as I can but I am not doing a very good job of it so my advice is to avoid me until at least 9:00 am.
Or maybe 10:00 am. Or just send me a text that way I don’t have to answer until I feel like it.
Anyway.
Let’s take a look at what I ate on Monday which might as well be What I ate on Tuesday too since I basically ate the same foods both days.
Breakfast:
I refuse to part with my son’s baby bowls and dishes. In fact, I like to use them still for snacks. And on Monday, I used his Gerber Baby Bunch a Bowls as a bowl for my pre-run oatmeal.
Clearly my photos are not staged for these posts. Ha
After my run, I made a protein pancake (similar to this recipe only I added Skoop) which flipped really well, didn’t it? Even with the blueberries in the center!
Lunch:
Since I had frozen yogurt for lunch both Saturday and Sunday, I went back to basics to start the week. Eggs on toasted cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread with avocado and a side of roasted asparagus which I bought on sale this week.
I haven’t had a Synergy Kombucha in a while so I treated myself to a bottle while I was out after lunch.
Dinner:
I love a good plant based power bowl. Quinoa, roasted broccoli, brussels sprouts and sweet potato wedges. I added avocado and a maple Dijon vinaigrette? Sauce? I don’t know what to call it but whatever it is, I made it myself and it’s real tasty.
Dessert:
Back to my old favorite – a granny smith apple with peanut butter.
Don’t forget to check out what everyone else is eating today 🙂

What was for dinner last night?
What’s on the workout agenda today?
I had vegetarian lentil curry with some greens for dinner yesterday. It was strange because I typically eat curry with rice, but healthy living bloggers gonne be healthy 😉 I ate that curry with rice for lunch today, though!
As much as I’m not thrilled with running in the dark, I love that it’s light when we’re going to and from activities at night. I’m still not rested up though from the weekend! I make that ezekiel bread for my kids and they make their own egg sandwiches with scrambled eggs 🙂

agreed – it definitely made going to Hebrew the other night a little easier.
Time change hasn’t bothered me. Weirdly, I’m waking up even earlier and going to sleep a bit later. So I don’t know what to make of that!

The time change has not been kind to me. I’m slow in the mornings without light and definitely a bit crankier than normal. Plus it’s been cold and so windy here!

Your dinner looks so good. I started making batches of quinoa again for power bowl lunches and I’m obsessed, especially with tahini on top.

I am so cranky this week, especially in the morning and after dinner when I am just done with the world for the day. Ready for the weekend for sure!
That pancake looks delish! I eat those a lot during Passover in place of my beloved oatmeal!

it’s such a great Passover option for sure!
This week has been crazy for me so Im just trying to power through. Not sure if my mood is related to DST or just work stuff, but I also think I was affected by the weather earlier this week. After such perfect weather last week it was tough to deal with the cooler temps and rain!

Ugh, I’m a total crab apple in the mornings with the time change. And I work with middle schoolers, so they’re extra sassy too. Not good. I had strength training/stretching today, then a 2 mile run tomorrow–then my half marathon on Sunday!

so exciting about the half! and I don’t even know how you work with middle schoolers – I give you so much credit! not easy.
I made butter chicken and homemade naan bread for dinner last night! I was so impressed with myself! Not sure how far I’ll run today. Probably just an easy 8 miler. I’m supposed to be tapering for a race this weekend.

I am impressed with your dinner making too! maybe you want to try cooking for my son
I love the look of that protein pancake. 🙂 And I don’t love the time change, but I have to remember, ‘In everything give thanks…’ That’s tough sometimes.

such a good pancake, I really enjoy it.
Haha…walking down the street in NYC on Daylight Savings Sunday/Monday was not a fun experience. Not that I was bright-eyed either!

Usually, the time change only affects me on that first day, but this time around it’s been kicking my butt. I really didn’t want to reach for extra coffee, but it’s been so necessary! There is no better combo than an apple + nut butter. I have FlyWheel on the workout agenda for today. Can’t wait!

I have definitely been drinking extra coffee this week
I was okay on the first day of the time change, but it got me on day 2 and 3. Mostly I’ve just been waking up later and staying up later, but I do love the fact that it’s brighter out longer. Even though sometimes I crave the evening because that’s when my mind seems to feel most calm. TL:DR – it depends 😆

Oh man the time change kills me every time! I always think I am going to be okay but a few days in it always hits me!

I love an egg sandwich but have never tried it on cinnamon and raisin – can’t quite get my imagination around that one so I think I’ll just have to give it a whirl!

oh you have to try it! It’s so good on cinnamon raisin bread, but really, anything is good on cinnamon raisin bread!
I feel like I keep telling everyone how awful the time change has been for me. Luckily the Internet exists so I can complain to an even bigger audience haha! I had a turkey sandwich and some raw veggies for dinner last night but the star was a super fudgey brownie! I had 5 miles on the agenda today but it was 80 degrees out so it felt a little on the challenging side!

love a fudgy brownie! and yes, 80 is warm!
That blueberry pancake and your dinner are calling my name!!
