The start of school combined with the Jewish Holidays has thrown off my typical running routine.
The miles are still there, Pure Barre is still happening, but the routine of it all is panning out differently which has confused my brain a bit, making me realize that I really like the structure of the workout schedule I set up for myself a few months ago!
I have learned that I like knowing Tuesdays and Thursdays are my longer, harder weekday runs with Monday, Wednesday and Friday reserved for Pure Barre and recovery runs/cross-training.
I think it’s great to change things up every now and then and be flexible with yourself but after the Great South Bay half (hi, less than two weeks now), I will certainly be following my routine more closely again.
Monday – 9 miles
This type of run, in terms of distance and effort, usually happens on a Tuesday, not a Monday.
I talked about this run full of worries in Thursday’s post. Overall, it was a great run, even if I am convinced I was running faster than what MapMyRun was calculating.
Tuesday – Pure Barre Mile High DVD & 45 Minutes of Running
Recovery run which doesn’t usually happen on a Tuesday but needed to happen after Monday’s run.
I think I say this often but the Pure Barre Mile High Series may be my favorite simply because it’s the shortest in duration (30-35 minutes) but still gives you the full body Pure Barre experience.
Wednesday – 6.5 miles & Free Weights in the Gym
I felt like shaking things up a bit so I skipped Pure Barre in favor of some free weights in the gym with sets of jumping jacks in between.
From there I set out for a run, completely unsure of how or what I wanted to accomplish within my miles probably because my entire workout week began on a thrown off schedule note!
I ended up with a progression run which felt awesome in the early morning air.
Thursday – Pure Barre Mile High DVD & 4.61 Miles
I missed Pure Barre yesterday so I popped in another Mile High DVD because I was slightly short on time.
Friday- Pure Barre Studio Series DVD & 4.1 Miles
What’s with the 4 mile runs this week? I have no idea.
Saturday – 14 Miles
I needed this run! 13.1 miles at 8:18 pace which left me feeling energized mentally (exhausted physically) and more than ready for the Great South Bay in less than two weeks!
Very happen with this run. Very happy.
Sunday – American Heart Walk
I participated in this walk last year at Jones Beach in memory of my childhood friend Adam so of course I will be down there bright and early this morning to walk with Adam’s sister Kelly (who was one of my best friends growing up) and her family.
When I took a look back at last year’s American Heart Walk recap, I saw that I shared a recipe for peanut butter and pumpkin oat bran muffins. I forgot all about those yummy muffins!Week in workouts & American Heart Walk #running #purebarre #americanheartwalk #halfmarathontraining #fitfluential Click To Tweet
Best thing you ate so far this weekend?
If your long run was yesterday, how did it go?
Do you follow a workout schedule or wing it each day?
