It’s finally Friday! Like you really needed me to tell you that. I think Friday is the one day of the week where everyone is well aware of what day it actually is.

I was able to run outdoors again yesterday and I am thinking I can do the same for a few miles today and possibly even for my long run tomorrow.

Don’t get the wrong idea here — it’s certainly not warm out there. We are still talking about temperatures in the high teens but since it hasn’t snowed or iced in the last few days, the ground I run on in between the leftover snow piles is pretty clear.

Tomorrow’s forecast is looking a bit colder than I first thought but it should be “warm” enough to avoid frost bite.

My freezer has been kind lately in that it hasn’t given any of my food frost bite but maybe that’s because I eat it all super quick not giving it the chance.

veggie burger salad

If you follow me on instagram, you already know that my lunch of choice this week has been a veggie-loaded salad, often topped off with a Dr. Praeger’s veggie burger.

I have been roasting up a bunch of fresh brussels sprouts (obsessed, just obsessed) and then I mix them with some of the steam fresh vegetables I stocked up on last weekend.

It’s my latest favorite lunch combo (which would work amazing as a quick dinner too! Just add a sweet potato and some avocado if you have a ripe one which I do not at the moment).

I really enjoy the combination of fresh and frozen vegetables. It’s a great flavor/texture mix and so much easier on my stomach than eating all fresh roasted vegetables.

Please remind me that we need to discuss how fast, easy and delicious it is to roast frozen vegetables – especially broccoli! It’s on my list to discuss more in detail but hold me accountable to covering the topic really soon, okay?

Trader Joe’s sells Dr. Praeger’s veggie burgers in their frozen section. They don’t offer the entire Dr. Praeger’s veggie burger line but the original veggie burger, which is the one I buy the most, is always available at a great price ($3.49).

My friend recently asked me for a list of everything I buy at Trader Joe’s. I try to do most of my shopping there since the price is generally better but I still fill in from time to time from the other grocery stores depending upon sales, specific items and availability.

I compiled my typical Trader Joe’s grocery list as best as I could for her and figured I would share it with you today just in case you were headed there this weekend to get your grocery shopping done.

I am sure that I am forgetting something!

I think I got lucky to live right in between two Trader Joe’s and then wherever I seem to go, there’s always one in the area. It’s definitely my favorite store so I hope you can find you like it enough to go there too.

If this isn’t “a sign” I dont know what is! I have been needing….okay wanting to make the trip across town to TJ for weeks, but steve kept saying I didnt need to go over there as we could get everything we needed from the kroger that is 1/4 mile away, but now I FINALLY have a big enough list of TJ only stuff that he agrees its time, and I have been trying to decide the last 2 days whether to go or not….and now with your list….ITS TIME! Long story short, THANK YOU….and now I have even more to add to my list 🙂 Now I HAVE to go 😉

Haha! Tell him I think overall you will save money which justifies the trip! I do most of my shopping there because of the price and quality. While not everything is organic, there selection is always free of artificial colors and preservatives and I can get the most of what I want at a good price over any other store.

I buy about 99% of my groceries at TJ’s. Not that I keep much food in the house… I just buy my produce, the rosemary balsamic grilled chicken, oatmeal cookie zbars, chocolate caramel wedges, everything crackers, and occasionally cookie butter. That’s about it.

It’s sad when 30 degrees starts to feel warm. I can’t wait for next week. I think we’re hitting mid-40s most days!

They finally opened a TJs here in September – so exciting. Its right next to my son’s school so we are right after drop off – literally at like 8:00 am – which is great b/c parking is so much better then. As strange as it sounds, I LOVE their sushi. It has a lot of rice and its def not high quality but perfect to shovel in when my son goes into nap and I want to hop on the treadmill. Also – my son loves their fruit leathers, chocolate fiber granola bars and their breakfast bars that are similar to Nutrigrain bars. My husband likes their turkey stuffed peppers and this frozen mushroom, potato and string bean blend I just tried out. Weather is gross here – rainy all day – does not bode well for the playground later!

Have you seen KALE SPROUTS at Trader Joes? My friend told me about I went yesterday–they were “gone” from the shelf. But the nice employee at trader joe’s went and dug em out of the box–let me tell you–DELISH–I washed them–put them on parchment paper and used some olive oil and salt and pepper. Baked at 400 for 10-15 mins….and the best part–you don’t CUT off the ends–that’s the tastiest part. My whole bag is gone. They are def a snack or go with something but very very good!!! Look for them next time you are at TJ’s.

I cannot wait to hear how to roast frozen veggies! I didn’t know you could!? This can really save me some $! I love Trader Joes, that’s where my main food shopping is, I really believe they are cheaper than Shop Rite or Stop & Shop. Also (not sure if you like them) have you tried the frozen figs? I just recently found them at TJs and they are amazing!!

You can totally roast them! It’s super easy and fast and much easier on my stomach. It’s a bit different than fresh depending upon the vegetable but I find broccoli to come out great. I will cover it soon, maybe this week!

Your veggie burger looks great! I keep meaning to make my own, but somehow it never happens…

I don’t shop at TJ’s very often, but I LOVE the dark chocolate peanut butter cups, so I go every couple of months to pick some up. We have Sprouts here, which has great produce, so I do lots of shopping there.

I just went to TJ’s during my lunch break so I didn’t have to go after work. I don’t know if yours has been the same but all of the Chicago TJ’s have been out of coconut oil for the last month.
