I melted into my bed Tuesday night. Melted is the best way to describe that feeling of finally getting into your bed and hiding under the covers after doing the bedtime countdown for more minutes (hours) than you want to admit.
There is nothing like that feeling of your body hitting your bed in all of the right places. I know I had the Islanders game on the television but I am pretty sure I was only half conscious as I think I was in a dream state within two minutes. It was glorious.
Talk to me about the “waiting ten minutes for your brain to get the message from your stomach that you are full” thing.
I really try to wait the ten minutes, especially in the morning because I could easily eat endless bowls of oatmeal without coming up for air.
Who said pretty dessert bowls are reserved only for ice cream?
As soon as my bowl is empty, the sadness kicks in because my breakfast was so yummy (even more yummy when it’s the bowl after a run!) so I feel like I want more!
But am I really still hungry? Because if I truly am, I absolutely help myself to more but unfortunately, most of the time, I realize after waiting the ten minutes that I am indeed full.
Yes, this disappoints my taste buds but I guess it means that there is truth to the process of it taking ten minutes for your brain to realize your stomach is full and satisfied.
So get this — I stopped buying PB2.
My peanut butter pantry no longer looks like this picture.
I liked PB2 but didn’t love the price tag OR how it was making me feel overall –> not satisfied!
The fat in peanut butter (which is removed in PB2) is important because it helps us to reach that satisfied level of fullness.
Having PB2 around wasn’t doing anything for me. I wasn’t eating less peanut butter because PB2 was available, I think I was eating more because it left me always wanting more.
I decided to stop buying a PB2 jar every time I went to Target. It couldn’t hurt to save some money and honestly, I have completely forgotten that PB2 was every part of my peanut butter picture.
I do think PB2 has its place and I really like it when blended into banana soft serve but other than that, unless it’s on sale, I am done.
In Fitness Magazine this month, I read that out of all of the apple varieties available, my beloved granny smith apples contain the highest amount of nondigestible compounds, including fiber and antioxidant polyphenols, which promote the growth of “good” gut bacteria which may help decrease inflammation and prevent obesity.
Just another reason to keep my two apple a day habit going strong.
I can’t decide if this picture is blurry or if the color of the shoes combined with the gym floor create some sort of optical illusion.
I wear these Under Armour running shoes when I cross train on the elliptical. They are so super soft, light and flexible, especially on the tops of the feet, that I swear slipping them on makes not just my mouth smile, but my feet too.
But I can’t run in them. Actually, I don’t know if I can because I am afraid to try to run in them.
You know how nuts I am when it comes to my feet and running shoes! I get nervous running in totally different shoes, especially right now when most of my runs on the treadmill. Maybe once I am running outdoors again on a regular basis I will give them a chance.
I did get to run outside yesterday though!
That’s me in my hallway mirror, just coming in from a cold eight miles. It felt great to be out in the sunshine!
I can’t stop taking pictures in that mirror by the way. I recently moved the mirror to the hallway from where it used to hang so every time I walk past it and I am holding my phone, I snap a picture.
And because you want to know what I had for dinner last night:
Two slices of vegetable pizza.
You only see one slice because I ordered them one at a time, applying the ten minute rule here just like at breakfast but who are we kidding? Once I finished the last bite, I went up to order my next slice.
