Let’s start with my last Pure Barre class (for now at least) which I attended Friday morning…
Fact: I do not wear makeup when I run or workout, regardless of who may see me. I would rather have uneven skin tone and appear half-asleep than breakout from makeup seeping into my pores while I sweat.
So my one-month New Client Special membership is now up. I attended twelve classes within the last four weeks. I loved each and session.
All of that lifting, toning and burning has absolutely made a difference in my strength as well as in my muscle tone and shape.
To be honest, I don’t study my body or inspect every inch of my curves in the mirror on a regular basis but I will say that my arms are more toned and I do think my waist is leaner (thanks to core work) and I pretty sure there is a difference in my “Pure Barre shelf” along with my seat.
I also notice a major difference when I am running in that my muscles feel much more stretched and balanced with a noticeable difference in my form with each step I take. Like, everything just goes in a nice stride if that makes sense.
Without the New Client Special pricing, we are talking more than just a couple hundred dollars for a pack of twenty classes. It is pricey to say the least.
If you have it to spend, it is absolutely worth it. It is such a terrific non-impact full-body workout that truly produces results in your strength, flexibility along with a fine tuning to your shape in those areas that usually matter the most.
After careful consideration of my other expenses though, other things come first right now, especially when you can order Pure Barre DVD’s and do the work at home.
Not that I ever in my life cared to work out in my living room before but I am so truly determined to keep up with my Pure Barre lifting, toning and burning and refuse to lose the fitness I have gained in just four weeks therefore I will push myself to make this work.
Besides, I think it will be a good thing for me to attempt and master so that I can inspire you to maybe do the same.
So the craziest thing happened to me Saturday morning while I was running.
Once again I was having what I thought to be ponytail issues only one mile into my long run.
It felt as though my hairtie was sliding out so I slowed to a walk to fix myself only to realize it wasn’t the hairtie, it was my new (bought on sale!) Lulu headband which completely slipped off of my head and fell to the ground!
I don’t even understand.
I put it back on and it didn’t slide off again but it was weird.
I should have bought these headbands instead….
As for my long run, I think it was over thirteen miles but less than fourteen? Not really sure.
Somewhere after the seven mile mark I decided to shut MapMyRun and just run for another hour.
On the topic of long runs, check out my post from exactly one year ago about skipping my long run because I was sick.
I may be extremely dedicated to my routine but I absolutely have my limits.
It’s always fun to reread old posts. It’s also always fun to order your favorite Cold Stone sundae and not let any drop to the ground.
In case you are interested, Cold Stone came out with a new flavor.
I didn’t order it in my sundae but I did taste the new PB & J Ice Cream and it was delicious.
I usually order the yogurt as my main flavor instead of the ice cream varieties (the Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Cherry Vanilla yogurts are so good!) because sometimes the ice cream is just too much for my stomach.
Besides, it’s all about the toppings and the chocolate dipped waffle bowl anyways.
And, the biggest highlight of my weekend:
That’s right – $1.47 per container.
I can’t tell you how many people saw the advertisement for this special and contacted me to ensure that I was aware of the sale at Shop Rite.
My son is scheduled to have his cast removed this morning so since he is off from camp for the day, I also scheduled his orthodontist appointment in order to get all these appointments out of the way at once.
We have a full day ahead of us but I am hoping to get a new recipe post together for you for tomorrow; you may have caught a sneak peak if you follow me on instagram.
Get your bananas ready. It’s a yummy one.
Have a terrific day!

Do you wear makeup while you run or to the gym?
If you go to Pure Barre, how quickly did you notice a difference in your strength and appearance?
Best thing you ate all weekend?
I don’t put on make up to go to the gym, and the only time I really let make up stay on if I am going to work out is for hot yoga–I let myself get sweaty, and then wipe it off. I do put on mascara for races, though–my eyelashes point down, so I helps.

I can’t even talk about the ice cream. I can’t even.

Did you try my hair tie trick????? And I am mad at you, how did you NOT try the PB&J cold stone?!?! That is next on my list! If I went somewhere where I could get one I would….but the nearest one is an hour away……not for much longer though, as when I move there will be one for me to visit as much as my wallet will afford! That cone looks yummy though!!!!!

And I am mad at you for missing the sentence where I said I did try it and it’s very good! lol
I feel the same way about barre. I LOVED the classes but they’re a little out of my budget right now. I think I may try some of the at home dvds or online classes. Let me know if you find a series you really like! We need some kind of online barre group so it feels like barre class 😉
That is a terrific idea. I am not technical enough to figure out the logistics but if you start a virtual barre class, please sign me up!
I rarely wear makeup when working out. Only if I have it on from earlier in the day, but that’s rare. After having acne for years, I want to do my best to keep that at bay.

Don’t you just hate when you sign up for a new gym and they have great deals for new members and then they suck you in and tell you the cost is basically equivalent to your left arm? that’s what my spin and yoga studios did to me here and I’m just not about that. I can’t justify paying $20+/class but I love them so much that I do it anyways a lot. Obviously since I don’t wear makeup ever, I don’t wear it to the gym, unless it just won’t come off my face like that stuff I had on this weekend 😉

It’s so not fair to get a taste of a fabulous class and then watch the price skyrocket up to normal. I am hoping for a deal later in the fall or at least ot learn to like doing it at home.
That once cream sweater of yours is too cute! I def don’t wear makeup on my runs unless if I want it to melt off and scare of people around me! The best thing I ate all weekend would probably be my burrito from chipotle LOL I have a burrito problem.

Hate, hate, hate the feeling of makeup on my face when I’m sweaty… which is why I avoid wearing much in the hotter summer months as well. And you’re seriously giving me a craving to try some Barre workouts. I’m not a huge fan of really high impact workouts, but ones that make my muscles shake without jarring me tend to go over a lot better.
Also… your sweater is just too freaking cute <3

You need to try those Barre videos you have or find a local class. I really love it.
I would totally wear the candy do headband. You should have bought that one. I admire your discipline with long runs. I cant wait to follow a schedule again. I’ve read a lot about how bananas help with your brain and depression. I’ve been eating one everyday for breakfast.

There are so many healthy benefits associated with eating bananas, beyond just regarding diet and calories. Amazing what produce and healthy nutrient dense foods can do for the body.
I would love to try the Barre classes! No make up while I work out, I never understood how people get all dolled up for the gym- dangly earrings and make up lol!

Best thing I ate? our anniversary meal out! Mmmm!

Happy Anniversary!
I have been wanting to try pure barre for FOREVER….if is wasn’t so darn expensive!

The price is really crazy. I wish it was cheaper!
Ice cream cone sweater! How appropriate! I typically wear some daily lotion with bronzer in it. It’s light so I don’t notice it while I’m working out. My cheeks turn red enough when I exercise so no need for blush! 🙂

I love anything with ice cream and cupcake patterns!
I never wear makeup when I run or workout. I don’t wear much to go to work either, but I always like to wash my face if I happen to work out after work. Since I usually run in the morning there is no way I am wearing makeup! I barely get my hair in a ponytail at that time of day:)

I ate some amazing ice cream over the weekend too! One of my favorites was chocolate peanut butter!

Ha – I struggle with the ponytail in the morning these days too! lol…But yeah, the benefits of morning runs is the no makeup to take off yet scenario.
I am jealous of that blueberry price. What a steal. Also now I want a waffle cone stacked with three scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Yum.
I can’t even run for an hour, much less an additional hour. You are impressive.
Sometimes I am like Forest Gump – if I pace myself just right, I can keep going and going lol.
Sometimes I am like Forest Gump – if I pace myself just right, I can keep going and going lol.
I am personally more of a weight training DVD fan (looooove Les Mills Body Pump) but Physique 57 sounds like the perfect barre DVD for you. I have it & it’s tough! Definitely check it out!
I will keep it in mind, thanks so much!
I wear make up… but it’s just it’s just whatever is left over after work since I go right after. I’m a night owl!
Now I have to pretend I didn’t see that PB&J ice cream. That looks SO good! So does you soon-to-come recipe!

I am such a morning person – I used to try to work out after work and it just wasn’t effective for me, no matter how I tried sometimes!
Oh man, that ice cream…as if they just got that flavour- it should be standard!
Guess how much blueberries are here….$8.99.

Arman @ thebigmansworld recently posted…Healthy Living Blogger’s definition of ‘Vacation’
Yikes. $8.99 is insane.
Hi Meredith!! Totally love reading your blog 🙂 I share the same love for all things running and of course sweets aka frozen yogurt and ice cream. (I always think of what ice cream/fro yo concoction I will treat myself to after my runs!) Anyway, speaking of ice cream, where did you get that adorable sweater?!?
Thanks!!!!
The sweatshirt is made by Wild Fox and I believe I bought it at Nordstrom. I haven’t seen it there in a while but I bet you can still find it online! Or even check out Bloomingdales!
Ah, I think my gym offered some Barre classes. I’ll have to see if they are still offering that class. I’ve heard really good things about it from my sister, although her new fave is a pilates class with the reformer machines.

I really love the Pure Barre classes. A real noticeable difference in a short amount of time!
Ha! I never wear makeup either when working out. But I wish I looked like you without makeup. Thanks to some hereditary dark eye circles, when I don’t wear makeup people are always asking me if I didn’t get any sleep or if I am tired. 😀

Aw, you are too kind…I am fair-skinned so I often notice darkness under my eyes. Although, when I switched out some makeup products and reduced some of the allergens from the beauty products I use (avoiding parabens) I noticed a lot less darkness.
I work out with make up on if it’s already on from the day. Awesome deal on blueberries!

I went back today to get more of the blueberries before the sale expired! Such a good price.
