This cold weather is getting real old.
So is the puffiness under my eyes. I am a long time allergy sufferer but lately I have been trying to pinpoint exactly what is causing my most recent flare up.
Yep, I play allergist in my spare time.
Anyway, I really didn’t think I would still be bundling up in 4 layers, plus a scarf, gloves and hat (unpictured) at the end of the March.
Hopefully it warms up between now and the half marathon I am scheduled to run in 3 weeks. Otherwise I am clueless as to what I will be wearing for the race.
Confession: I have become a bit of a running weather wimp lately. I have no patience for the cold these days. It may have something to do with my old age.
Three of my runs this week took place inside on the treadmill. And, I briefly decided I may even like the old mill, especially for the convenience of stretching my legs.
KEYWORD: BRIEFLY
Why only a momentary like of the old mill?
Because that mileage and time you see in the picture is not accurate. I really ran somewhere over 4 miles.
So why is the 4 miles not displayed you wonder? It seems if you come too close to touching any of the multiple stop buttons (WHY ARE THERE SO MANY STOP BUTTONS ON THIS MACHINE?) your run is ended on you.
You get to abruptly stop and then restart as if you hadn’t already battled a few miles on the mill already. Sound fun?
I was less than thrilled to restart. Not to mention the abrupt stop interrupted my version of run-dancing along to the Harlem Shake (which may be why my arm or hand hit one of the several STOP buttons).
On a positive note, my phone didn’t die on me for this morning’s run until just about my 12 mile mark. Which was just fine with me. I was stopping at 12 today anyway.
I can totally hear my mother reading this and remarking, “Oh, only stopping at 12?…I don’t like that my daughter runs all of these miles. This can’t be good for her”.
I got smart this morning people. At the 10 mile mark, I decided not to play with the Pandora stations and forced myself to listen to whatever came on in an effort to extend the battery life of the phone.
Yeah, I am that kid that constantly switches the radio station in the car as well as while I am running.
I was very nervous that I would not like the songs chosen by Pandora in the last 2 miles but I actually got lucky.
Gotta love Footloose. Especially at the 11 mile mark of one’s run when your feet are certainly feeling loose but your socks are starting to bunch.
Yeah, I may have found my missing Lulu sock but I am not so sure I am still in love with them since they have been bunching around my toes.
I chuckled to myself as I sang along with Footloose thinking of the premise behind the movie. If that little town back in 1984 had a thing against kids listening and dancing to music, I would love to know how the town would feel about the internet and the use of iProducts
Music doesn’t sound so bad for the kids now, huh?
Ironically, the big excitement in my house today is the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
The boy will be watching the awards with his best friend (who just happens to be the son of my best friend).
It has been requested by the kids that I make the same dessert I made for them last year.
Hershey’s Hot Fudge Pudding Cake.
Of course I make my own version. And, if you promise not to tell the kids that I throw in some healthy ingredients, I will even share my recipe with you. Stay tuned!
Enjoy your weekend!
I need to know:
Do you suffer from allergies? If so, what cosmetics and/or moisturizers work best for you?
Does the treadmill ever shut off on you?
Do you like running in the cold?
It’s cold here all of the sudden, too!!
I despise running on the mill….I seriously avoid it at all costs! It’s 14 degrees out in Denver right now, but I am headed outside for my run 🙂 I actually LOVE running in the cold though…it’s heat I can’t do.
Hang in there- it will get warm soon!
I hate running in the heat too. Slows me down and I end up running earlier and earlier to avoid the hot sun. 14 degrees is toooooo cold!
