3 Runs + Pure Barre + Treadmill Incline Walking? (workout recap)

Hi! I hope you had a great week in workouts like I did!

Let’s jump right in to my week in workouts which featured 3 days of running, 3 days of Pure Barre, and one random day in the gym mixing the elliptical and a quick try of treadmill incline walking.

Monday – 5 Miles (treadmill)

I was short on time this morning but it was fine because it motivated to run a little faster.

  • 1 mile warm up
  • 3 miles between 7.5 – 7.8 (half marathon effort)
  • 1 mile easy

Tuesday – Pure Barre Sculpted Arms

I mentioned this Pure Barre workout in Friday’s Favorites post as my favorite fitness from the week.

OMG. Such a challenging hurt-so-good workout. My heart was pounding throughout which tends to happen when upper body and core are worked basically the entire time.

Wednesday – 5 Miles – Intervals (treadmill)

Oh boy, this was a great run! I didn’t have a plan but after a mile warm up, I jumped into intervals for the next four miles. Nothing too specific, I just tried to break out of my usual interval pattern and run them a little differently. It became faster for longer/slower for shorter periods of time without really timing anything if that makes sense.

I hit 3.5 miles before the 30 minute mark so I knew I was working today! Once I reached 5 miles, I cooled down for a few minutes until the screen said 45 minutes. DONE.

Thursday – Pure Barre Pure Results (Thighs)

By the way, I’m starting to think these Pure Barre instructors are my friends. I know their faces and voices so well by now. HA!

Friday – 30 Min Elliptical/Treadmill Incline Walking

I wasn’t in the mood to run, so I didn’t. Under the assumption I would want to run tomorrow, I chose the elliptical for 30 minutes (I push my effort on there though to get a good workout!) follow by a few sets of jumping jacks and squats. Nothing too fancy, formal or timed.

Then I decided to finish up with treadmill incline walking. Laura and I were discussing treadmill incline walking and possible benefits of it so I figured, why not today?

Eh, I don’t know that treadmill incline walking is a workout for me though. I had to keep increasing the incline on the treadmill, up to 9 or 10, to feel my heart rate get up there and at that point, I felt as though I was not in a natural walking position and didn’t want to hurt my hips or anything. All of that was 5 minutes and called it a day.

Saturday – 6.2 Miles

I ran outside today! Such a rarity. Each time Runkeeper chimed in my ear, I wondered how accurate it was as it was giving me fast splits. Although, I knew I was moving fairly quickly and I was falling in line with where my pace has been on the treadmill so I guess it was accurate.

On Instagram I mentioned that Runkeeper said this was my fastest 10K. It certainly wasn’t my fastest ever, like when compared to a race, but I guess it was my fastest 10K since using the Runkeeper app.

Sunday  – Pure Barre

Of course the fact that I have a guest pass to Lifetime is in the back of my mind. I probably could reserve a bike for a spin class or go to the gym and try something else. But I won’t. I don’t feel like it.

    Ive actually been walking on the treadmill occasionally like before or after a strength training workout or on a rest day. I havent don’t too much incline walking but I follow routes on google maps so basically if the way I am going has an incline, then the treadmill increases its incline. It would probably be a decent workout to do more on an incline once in in awhile.

    I will walk on the treadmill at home if I have a show to watch or can read on my ipad…it’s not that bad (but also not my favorite) and is nice that bathrooms and water are easily accessible if needed:))
