Foodcation

Hi friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

In addition to running around the town this weekend (in my favorite new flip flops might I add), I gave some more thought to Gwyneth and her grueling workout routine.

Perhaps I owe her an apology.

I guess I was most bothered by her comment because for me, my exercise routine might be the only thing in my life where I feel that I am in complete control.

It brings me joy, not just because of endorphins folks, but because it is mine.  No one depends on me.

No one can tell me how to do it or when to do it. It is determined by me. I answer to myself.

why i run

There are so many situations in our own little worlds that are completely out of our control and can bring us to tears or at least add stress to our daily lives.

Has happened to all of us, yes? Maybe a marriage, relationship, family or health related issue? Work and/or school issues?

I know I have been in a few difficult and challenging situations.

Situations that have brought me to tears. On more than one occasion.

My point here is that even with those tears, I attempted to work through those situations and stick things out, even though my friends and family may have thought I should do otherwise.

So Gwyneth, I am sorry for judging you. Everyone has their own breaking point and who am I to decide what that is for you.

Although I do still feel that you may benefit from a day off. A break. A time out.

Perhaps a note from your mom to excuse you from the gym.

Surely your trainer will appreciate the autograph from Blythe Danner.

My mom used to write me notes to excuse me from gym class throughout high school. And middle school.

OK and elementary school too. I hated climbing those ropes and sitting and reaching for the physical fitness test.

I swear, if only my gym teacher could see me now.

We could all still use a note from our mom to excuse us from life sometimes, yes?

As much as we may love our day to day life, sometimes we need a break.

Lately I feel as though I could use a vacation from one routine in my world.

A foodcation if you will.

I haven’t determined all of the logistics just yet but I have been considering a nice little foodcation that will free me from couponing, food shopping, cooking and cleaning my kitchen.

For a week. Or maybe five business days.

I love to cook, don’t get me wrong. But we all need a break sometimes from the things we love.

I do not know when I will be taking my foodcation, but before the dates are determined, I need to figure out the exact parameters.

  • Will the foodcation apply to all meals? Just lunch and dinner? Just dinner?
  • Will we eat out? A week full of favorite restaurants preparing my salads and other favorites for us?
  • Red Mango, The Cheesecake Factory, sushi and pizza?
  • Or will I go SEMI-HOMEMADE and treat us to the prepared foods from Whole Foods?

I could even do a mix of prepared foods and dining out.

Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.

I think this little foodcation will be a fun little break and experiment.

I am curious to see how quickly I miss my typical meals as well as how much it would cost me to NOT cook for a week.

Thoughts?

How do you think I should approach my foodcation?

Do you sometimes feel you need a note from your mom to excuse you from something in your life?

My favorite thing is nutritional yeast. This stuff is awesome! I will post on it soon. It is a great substitute for cheese that actually has healthy stuff in it (unlike cheese).

I love those quest bars too! Not just all natural but no added sugar too! My favorite thing lately is popcorn. I air pop it then put coconut oil, salt, and nutritional yeast on it. This stuff is great! I will be posting about nutritional yeast soon, love it!

I could totally use a note from my mom today! I think the foodcation is a great idea.

I wish my mom could excuse me from work…haha, but somehow I would still get paid 😉
