Of course it is Tuesday. I always have so much to discuss on Tuesday!
Although I have great tips to share for 3-tip Tuesday, I am going to do a recap of my experience as a guest on the Dr. Oz show today and save the tips for tomorrow.
At the bottom of this post however will be the winners selected for the Kidfresh Giveaway!
The last few days have been such a whirlwind of excitement between being selected as a guest for the show, locating the right outfit for my television debut as well as preparing what I would be discussing in my moment of fame.
I had to be at NBC Studios by 8:00 am sharp. One of my very good friends was joining me for the adventure. She was picking me up around 6:00 am to give us plenty of time to get into the city.
I got up at 4:00 am. I am never one to rush or be late so I got up extra early to get ready – who could sleep anyway?
I arranged my most important of essentials.
My jar filled with oatmeal, a note to remember to bring my phone charger for the car, 2 cups for the coffee, 2 emergency snacks and a cucumber.
I know, you are curious about the cucumber, right? That was for my eyes. While I drank my coffee and surfed the web a little bit, I put the cucumber on my eyes in an attempt to reduce the 4:00 am puffiness.
Oh and don’t ask me if I like that KIND Bar flavor, I have never actually eaten it – it is for emergencies only.
As for the packet of Justin’s Almond Butter, I swiped it from the little boy’s Protein Box from Starbucks. It is always good to travel with some form of nut butter, yes?
Anyway, I was told to arrive with two outfit options as well as with my hair and make up slightly done the way I thought I wanted it.
As you can see, the cucumber did not help my eyes very much at 5:00 am.
It was still dark when we left but the sun was up and shining when we arrived in the city.
Since we made it to the city without any traffic, we parked and headed to the Starbucks in NBC Studios for more coffee.
Once I was checked in for the show, I was told I really couldn’t take anymore pictures. I did the best I could though when no one was looking.
I walked to my dressing room. Dressing room?!?!
Fruit Skewers, muffins, water, coffee, tea…Fabulous.
While my friend and I were busy posing and playing celebrity, wardrobe arrived to pick my outfit, take it to be steamed and then ushered me off to hair and make up.
Everything went very quick after hair and make up and I wasn’t allowed any more photos from this point nor did I have the chance to think about sneaking one.
Which was a total shame because I don’t have a picture of when I finally got dressed and microphoned for the show.
So what did I wear? As you recall, the rules were dark pants with NO WHITE, NO BLACK AND NO PATTERNED TOPS. Bright colors a must.
It was not an easy task at all to find an outfit according to those guidelines that I liked enough to wear on television.I found 2 tops after hours of shopping to bring with me – one of course I liked more than the other. And of course they chose the one I wouldn’t have picked.
Good thing I liked my shoes though. I noticed throughout the taping that my little feet were in plenty of scenes.
As for the show, it was an amazing experience.
I was walked into the studio where the audience was already seated (everyone in their bright colored tops of course). I was seated in the first row along with the other guests that would be interviewed for the episode.
The Dr. Oz show is divided into a bunch of segments and there were a few segments before me.
The topic that I was featured in was called “Healthy Revenge” following divorce.
I was to speak about how I handled divorce in a healthy way rather than seeking revenge on my ex and the world. I also was to discuss my blog which focuses on my daily life as a single mom with an emphasis on health, fitness and wellness.
Dr. Oz was so super nice; he introduced himself to me prior to the segment, thanked me for coming and thanked me a few more times after we taped.
I was so nervous prior to my segment but once it was my turn and Dr. Oz was speaking to me, I was fine. At least I hope it appears that way when the show airs!
I don’t have the date yet but as soon as I do, I will let you know!
After the taping, my friend and I went for a celebratory lunch.
On our walk to the restaurant, we had a lovely chat with Hoda Coffey.
Lunch was delicious. So delicious that I apologize for not taking any photos of our meal.
But I remembered to take a picture of dessert. Dessert is the most important meal anyway, right?
The waiter brought us a complimentary slice of cheesecake since I was a celebrity. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I don’t like cheesecake and that dessert to me is chocolate.
My friend said the cheesecake was amazing so I tasted it. It tasted like whipped cream. It really was delicious, even though cake should be chocolate.
And then, just like that, by 3:00 pm my stardom was over and I was back to my regular life.
I picked the boy up from school to go to the library.
He has a report to do on Alexandar Hamilton.
